Build Log
Build of the Punkair Pilot Peer XL + Emotion Line Prop Cage
Here's a short build log with Pictures of Pilot Peer XL + Emotion Line Prop Cage.
the unboxing can be found here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...and-Pilot-Peer For the pilot, I decided to try the DS3235SG servos from Amazon. They are advertised as 35kg and so far have lived up to that. Now only time will tell if they are resistant /resilient to years of usage. The build is very easy and straight forward. Mark the holes, drill and screw in the servos. |

For the legs I used some Goop and then put a Tie Wrap. Same thing for the boots (Goop) and I also used a screw as suggested on the German Para forum.
I'm thinking of adding some paint details on the boots. I'll probably do that over the winter months. |

For the accelerator servos I'm using two 25kg servos placed in the bottom of the cage. The kit lets you choose where to put them. You can place them in several places in the harness or in the cage.

The next step was to install the harness over the metal seat and bolt that unit to the cage.
For me, this was the most difficult part. By the time I would bolt one section, the other section was misaligned. I couldn't thread the bolts because they were missing just a few MM. I'm sure with patience I would have succeeded, but..... I ended up taking 4 longer bolts out of my reserves. While posting this, I realized that I stopped taking pictures. The bolts in the pictures where replaced with longer bolts. (4mm black hex bolts used for small gas motors) |

Here's the final Cage to Harness assembly. It's a very nice unit.
Next I decided to install the Castle Talon 90 in the side pocket. It fits very well. I'm sure the side pocket will take any beefy sized ESC. In the following pictures, the accelerator wires go through the back in the provided slot and the ESC wires go through the side. It might be hard to see by the pictures but the wires are out of the way. It's very easy to fit a battery. In the picture it's a 4s 4000mah. I managed to fit a 5000mah 6s battery in pack. 6s would be the max size because of the width. |

I decided to bolt the Pilot in the harness. This step is not required as the holding straps are more that enough. Since I do not plan to Slope because of the lack of places to slope fly around here, I bolted Peer to the harness.
Might i suggest that this be measured before the harness is installed. IE: take the metal seat and pilot and make the marks. Because of the material I miscalculated and had to re-do my holes. |

For the line installation I copied a gentleman from the German Forum.
https://www.rcparaglidingforum.de/t3....html#msg25325 I used some good quality s-carabiners and clips. Here are the final assembly pictures and the arm adjustments from differenct angles. In the next post is the actual line routing. It works very well and will take seconds to change to another wing. |

Line routing pictures and a few in the air.
Final thoughts: I really like this backpack. It's the perfect size for wings that are 4 meters + in size. It's also very light and easy to add weight. I fly in a very windy field so for my Opale Camo R2.4 and my CrossAlps 2.8, i use 3.8 to 4.2kg in weight. It's very easy to bring the pack up to 6kg for very large single skin wings. It flies perfectly with 4s and 6s. Balance: it's very well balanced front and back + side to side. I also like the side pocket. I use this for my GPS and it does not get in the way. So far I have tested the pack with my CrossAlps, this weekend i will test it with the Camo Race . A+ Charles |
