Question

1/72 scale Revell, Airfix boat kit

Anybody experienced here who built some 1/72 scale boat kit like a Revell PT-109, Vosper or Airfix RAF Air sea rescue launch.
I would like to know some details what engine, batteries, shaft...
Thank you!

Do a search for contributor "rondean1". He has contributed some threads in the recent past which include information on the parts that he used when he did them.
Whatever parts you use to make it go, they need to be very light, and there is much need to save as much weight as possible from the build as the bare plastic model tends to float very near waterline.
A model with working bits added tends to float at its "deep loaded" waterline.

Just found your thread in scale.

What mfr02 said. If a PT is what you are after, the small Lindberg PT-109 is actually 1:64 scale, so it's a tiny bit bigger than the others. I used a 2S lipo and surplus motors. I made one set of props, and used a pair of nice Prop Shop ones ($$) for the other.

Boater Dave,

I've been meaning to ask you about your original Lindberg cutter motor set up. In your old set up you used a single Tamtech motor driving 2 pulleys attached to the twin prop shafts. I notice that both shafts rotate in the same direction. Did you have any problem with handling?

My apologies, Redboat219, I didn't see your reply until now. The boat is so small you don't notice much unless you do a lot of backing up. I converted it over to twin motors and the operation is a little better, but not much.

John! How the heck are you? Long time between talks. I should be down your way with those 'other' sailboat guys on the west side sometime in January.
