Porsche 959 -Team Blue Groove

I'm converting a buggy chassis to fit the Team Blue Groove Porsche 959. The body is close to 1/8 or 1/9 scale for a Porsche 961 and fits buggies with ~270 mm wheel base and <250 mm width. It can also be cut slightly different to fit slightly different wheelbases. I will make it white and on road first and then maybe a rally version later. Maybe I will make skirts for the front and rear bumper to make it look more like a Porsche 961 (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/95/0c...c8a340cd97.jpg) or this version: https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media...6vzr5amyib.jpg.

The body looks good and is shaped like the Dakar rally car. The wheelbase is 270 mm (1/8,6 scale). The width is 246 mm (1/7,7 scale) and the length is 496 (1/8,8 scale). Scales compared to a Porsche 961 dimensions.

Decals:

The chassis is my own design MK Ultra 4wd buggy, and I'm making custom arms to shorten the wheelbase to fit, and will make body mounts for it as well:

This size onroad cars were more common before the modern touring car chassis became a thing. Kyosho made several cars based on the Raider, Ultima and optima chassis' and Schumacher also made some.
Kyosho made Sierra RS500 Cosworth and Citrown ZX Rallye based on the Raider chassis. They also made a Nissan 300ZX, Porsche 911 flatnose, Ferrari Testarossa and Lamborghini Countach based on the Ultima chassis. Then there was the Ferrari F40 based on the Optima chassis, and the Lambo Diablo and Jaguar XJ220 which ran on a special 4WD chassis. They were larger than the current crop of 190 mm touring car models.

I changed my mind for the first and decided to make a rally body first.

I applied some of the decals tohelp guide the masking inside. The window frames made masking the windows very easy. The gold stripes should do the same for masking the blue. Fantastic decals from MCI. Elastic enough to conform to all the curves, and repositionable if they don't go on in the right spot.

Am I right , that you put the decals on the outside and mask the total body on the inside and cut inside the peace's out where you wil paint a special color.
After that you cut of the next peace of the mask where you wil paint another color.
You paint the color overlapping the color you used before.?

I'm gonna paint it inside like normal for lexan. I only put on the few decals I needed to guide the masking. Decals go on the outside.

Base layers of paint are on and it looks good. I used Tamiya PS-1 and PS-4. I used about half a can of each color.

To mount the body to this chassis using the custom body mounts it's easiet to first make the two rear holes as shown here, between the second and third grill lines behind the rear window, and 60 mm apart. Then mark and cut the front post holes.

Nice video.
You said in your first post" I'm making custom arms to shorten the wheelbase to fit" , have you done that or is everything standard as the buggy is.

It has the new arms to shorten the wheelbase to fit the body. The files for the new arms are on the Cults page.

I regret driving in that sand. It stuck to the car and won't fall off after it dried. I have to really clean the car. I'm glad the chassis is enclosed my the buggy body as that kept the inside with the electronics and belt clean.

New video testing the 3D-printed tires in gravel. They actually work ok on loose surfaces.
