7/13/20 - General 2020 nats info

FOLKS - Time to Step Up!!!

We need CD's For F5J and the Trifecta. I have a volunteer from California who is willing to travel at LSF expense. Before I pull the trigger and spend money on airfare and a hotel on that aspect are there any of you wishing to CD either event.

F5J is a tour event so certain standards have to be met. There is a tour event fund collection that has to be performed also. The contest pretty much runs itself after the timer to speak...but with almost 60 peeps coming it is going to be a large event to manage. You have to have been an experienced CD in this event. Knowledge of Glider Score is requisite too.

Trifecta - Its a good contest series to gain experience in if you are short on CD experience. The folks are pretty patient that fly these events, well sort of.

Please PM me if you want to volunteer for either CD aspect. I know most if not all of the folks on the east coast and from the last NATS so drop me a note.

Yolanda Jones just informed me that the NATS is a GO. They will have a shutoff for registration so make sure you do your thing before hand. The LSF MFWICs will get together to make sure it is successful. Still looking for Unlimited and Trifecta CDs. F3K may be a no-go due to registration. Will work with Don Cleveland on that aspect. I still can't attend unless there is a miracle at work. Will keep all apprised as more news breaks.

6/5/20 Update
- In email conversation with Chad Budreau: I asked that a complete pilots roster be added to each contestants goody bag in case someone tests positive. They can reach out to the group they were involved with. Chad was supportive, the request follows guidelines.
- The AMA is sticking to the 6/10 NATS announcement date from the Executive Board.
- I stated that each contestant is responsible for their own PPE, i.e. FACEMASK, hand sanitizer, wipes, etc. with 6 Foot distancing as best possible.
- The LSF will not be held financially responsible, for any reason, if you come down with COVID-19. You are morally obligated to inform your brethren of the fact you tested positive if you attended the NATS.

NO ONSITE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THIS YEAR - NO EXCEPTIONS. The AMA will supply a contact sheet of all pilots based on that freeze date. When the AMA says registrations close on a certain date they are closed from the LSF perspective. Don't show up and plead Mea Culpa.
1. Mail LSF Laptop and perf paper to GIL Gauger. (Wally)
2. We need CDs for UNLIMITED and the TRIFECTA (Step up please)
3. Find a caterer for opening night dinner. (Wally) CANCELLED 0 To Late to get a caterer.
4. BBQ still on with John Diniz? (Jim McCarthy)
5. Jim McCarthy has winch line from Memphis Twine.
6. Jim McCarthy interface with BOY SCOUTS for TROLL duty.
6. Call Monroe Central and confirm property use ($200 donation) (Wally)
7. Call Josh Green and make sure the whale gets set up parallel to the flight line (2018 setup) versus at an angle (2019 setup). (Wally/Gil Gauger)
8. CDs - I will arrange a WEBEX or ZOOM meeting if this event is a go.

If yoose guys think of anything else post up and I will add to the list.

Wally by Golly
The LSF head shed got together via email and decided to wait till 6/1 before we pulled the plug. Chances of this happening are about zero-point snit but you never know. Well its 6/5/ and we have not pulled the plug yet. Waiting on AMA word.

Hot off the presses from Yolanda Jones at AMA. This is our schedule! My Comcast account has been hacked again [14 times even with ridiculously strong password] . If you are sending emails there and not getting responses that is why. Send to work account: [email protected]

If you were not at the 2019 NATS it was fun for sure. Great weather albeit a tad windy for the second day of Unlimited and minimal carnage for the rest of the events. This post might as well get the chickens in the farm a clucking and the ever present trolls blowing up this post. With that said...

The 2020 Soaring NATS ARE FREE as far as the LSF contribution. You will still have to pay the $50 head tax from the AMA. Why this strange way of doing business? Hmmm....

So if you thought you could not afford the entry fee well the LSF B.O.D. just took care of that. Make sure you tell your friends too. The NEW schedule until someone says otherwise....

It was a fantastic 8 days of competition for me, way fun. Thanks for all you do to make it happen Wally. Thanks to all the CDs, score keepers and all the other volunteers involved. See you next year.

But it's not too early to subscribe to this thread so that we'll know right away when more information comes!

I suggested that to Wally last May but he said he couldn't do it.

We usually start events on those sites on Saturday. I'm not sure what impact that will have on folks who can get away only on weekends.

There was an (A) schedule and an (AAA) schedule for a 10/12 meeting at the AMA amongst all the SIGS. I called in to listen and provide commentary when asked. Before the meeting Yolanda asked that no schedule be posted before or after the meeting and as you can see someone posted "something" elsewhere on the groups, party foul in my opinion. I am violating that request also in a concerted effort to keep all apprised before the trolls run off the deep end and cause another poop-storm.

Another schedule came out on Monday 10/14, which was going to the Executive Council on 11/9 and 11/10. I asked for another day at Site 5, for 7/25, which has gone unanswered so far but I am just going to take it. The NATS schedule that was asked for, and the exact email I gave to Yolanda and Joyce Hager is provide below after the tildes. Now before you lose the frosting on your donut it appears Site 4 which we use for hand-launch has been scarfed by the other SIGs. We have to play in the AMA sandbox together. I have called and talked to Don Cleveland and we will work "something" out which means we will go play on another piece of AMA property that is flat. We are still working that out so don't grouse.

I cant take 10 more months of "hey why cant we do this or combine this event with that event". "Roll with it". I don't have 10,000+ posts and infinite wisdom like some of you. This is the schedule that included a few hundred tradeoffs.

Yolanda, a revised soaring schedule included below which just keeps all of soaring on or near Site 5 is requested. This will undoubtedly disturb the force with the curmudgeons but there has to be a little give and take. I just need to figure out where the 35+ F3K-Hand Launch folks are going to fly as they normally live over on Site 4 which has been given to RC Combat. Any idea where the AMA FUN FLY folks are flying from on 7/24-7/26? I can unequivocally state that starting the NATS on a Sunday won’t fly with 110+ plus folks. Now that we have made the NATS $FREE from the SIG perspective the LSF is expecting an increased turnout.

On the flip side I still do not know how the 400 foot rule will impact soaring yet.
