Ya know,, I make the mistake if wandering into that section once in a while,, just to quickly leave because all it is is a bunch of guys insulting each other as they try skirt the trolling rules,, Then when a guy finally gets banned for trolling you all act surprised ? Too funny

IMO it would be better to close that section completely,,, plenty of other places online to argue politics,, this is a Hobby site,, maybe focus on talking about your hobby here and not politics you'll have a much less chance at being banned,,, Juss sayin

While politics is indeed a part of the off topic area, it also includeds anything non-related to the on topic areas. Discusssions of astronomy, cars, married life, single life, the arts, kids, pets, just about any subject you'd care to discuss.

Even your suggestion to close the section completely is one that would be discussed in the LTUP forum because it doesn't have anything to do with model airplanes.

LTUP is neither good nor bad. It's all about what you make it.

Right,, it's mostly politics,, and it's mostly one side against the other arguing in circles that quickly turns bad,, you can sugarcoat it all you like, that doesn't change what it is at it's core,,

Guys go there to fight,, and fight they do,, then they get points and somehow are outraged they got points,,, kinda crazy ya ask me,,

LTUP gets a lot of click action. This site is a business. If the section didn't make money for the site owners, it wouldn't be there.

Also creates a lot of extra work for the paid staff, the circle continues

Less work than dealing with spammers, scammers, crossposting, thread moves, name changes, sales complaints from irate customers, etc., etc, etc.

LTUP typically only gets about one moderator action a week. Far less than the on topic forums.

Obviously not more work than its worth to the site or they wouldn't bother.

So if they lessen the work load of the mods by eliminating LTUP, should they still get the same pay?

LOL Typical LTUP circular arguments,,

So by that logic,, should we pay firefighters less if there are fewer fires? or do we pay them to be ready to fight fires when they do happen,,, Don't think we encourage or accept fires since we have firefighters available, we don't pay firefighters to sit by and just watch fires,, on the contrary we endeavor to reduce fires when possible,,,

When fires and trolling become impossible, we can talk

On that note, we'll agree to disagree. I still think, like everything else on life, it's what you make of it.

Thanks for the discussion, though!
