how to build in an endgrain/carbon spar

I've had success with building smaller wings. I'm into a 120 in plane now and I'm not sure the best way to get the end grain spars installed. building the spar under vac with angle iron seems easy enough.
Know of a link to a build that details this part.
Also not so sure on the best way to install the joiner-I'm going with 1/2in steel rod in 1/2in ID cabon tube.

The plane that I'm working on can be found here:

How's this?
The carbon braid they use isn't cheap but it is very strong. A more budget friendly option is to wrap the carbon capped balsa assembly with kevlar thread. It takes to the corners better and is more than strong enough. The kevlar wrap method is used in several Drela designs and no one has ever complained about failures - just about the tedious wrapping part. Go here and browse the plans and photos sections for the kevlar wrap details on several different planes.
