Build Log

Venom-x

"Venom-x" is what I have decided to call "my version" of the E-flight Commander

A friend of mine has the Commander and it flies so well, I decided to do a "similar" scratch build of the model

I also thought I would try something I have never tried before .. a rolled wing thats not only elliptical but its also semi-symmetrical .. I made a video of the making of the wing BUT unfortunately I deleted it somehow from my phone and because I made a video of the building of the wing, I didn't (as I usually do) take lots of pics ..

I did however take lots of pics of the building of the fuselage and if it flies OK I will do another wing (because I can use it for my Spitfire .. with some small mods to the shape)

Wing span: 1350mm
Length: 1100mm
Weight (without battery) 1300grams
AUW with 2200/3s battery 1500 grams

I used HK Shrink film to cover the wings

Wing almost finished, time to start the fuselage, I decided to make it from foam but with a few bits 3D printed ..

Fuselage formers and wing ribs from 6mm Depron and the skin from 5mm aero depron (from the USA) they say its 6mm but I think its closer to 5mm .. wings were also skinned with this

Unfortunately, RCFoam has no foam, of any type, currently in stock, nor has it had for several months.

When cows fly!
Nice build Tony! Just watched the maiden video Two things that I will point out:
1) Not really sure a plane that size needs flaps....not really sure where I heard somebody tell me that
2) On the second flight, I actually saw a right hand turn! Good job

Great build, keep up the awesome work. Thanks for posting the video

Thanks GPW

I intend to glass the fuselage with very thin Glass Fiber Cloth when it arrives from HK and will probably paint

Mean while I have started designing the Bristol and I might reprint the fuselage for the Taube as the wing and tail section is still usable after the crash

Again I greatly admire your building ability's.

It looks to be a sweet machine both in the hanger as ell as in the air.

AS tempting as this is, it'll have to wait
as I am in the middle of a Twins build with Grand son
AND a Polaris 44" span version ( Northstar size )

This will be on the winter build list.

I wish I had made the wing removable on this one Bob, it would have made it easier to work on the fuselage

Think I might do this on the Bristol I am working on now, any one have an easy way of doing this ?
