Help!

Receiver inputs not responding on Betaflight


Hi everyone! This is my first build, and it was possible with the helps of kind people around here and other forums/post as well.
I'm struggling with Betaflight to make it recognize my receiver inputs, so far no luck with it.

My FC is the LDARC Superfly KK F4 and the Betaflight options i've used were the suggested by the brand (UART 1: Smart-Port; UART 3: IR Tramp; UART 6: Serial RX). Under configuration, receiver is set to SBUS.

I'm following this guide, is a great and straightforward one, but i just happen to have a different receiver (I'm using the R9MM with the R9M Lite module instead the XM+ on the guide); the receiver is bounded to the TX, i can confirm because when i turn off the quad, i got the "telemetry lost" sound.

And this is the BF configuration according the FC user manual. Clearly i'm doing something wrong because it wont respond, also, whenever i try changing the ports order, i hit save and restart, it says the quad is restarting and i hear the 2 finals tones, but it hangs on "restarting", and i have to hit disconnect and connect again to find out the configuration was saved but not fix the issue.

It’s really hard to read your uart pic...
did you select the correct receiver type on the setup tab? I don’t see that setup page on your post. Also post a good pic of your fc as wired currently

I'm sorry for the non clear UART picture. Is updated now with more zoom into it. Also i've added the FC wiring picture. I've used the connector that was supplied with it and soldered the Inverted.S pad from the receiver to the TX1 UART, that's the green cable on the side.

My wiring was this according to the diagram:

Red: 5V
Black: Ground
Green: S.Port/F.port (I don't have Fport on the receiver, just the standard firmware for the R9MM), it's supposed to go with SBUS on the FC
Yellow: Inverted.S to the TX1 UART1

Your inverted S is the SBUS and that should go to the UART that you have set up for Serial RX in Betaflight. I doubt it's UART1.

So, should it solder the Inverted S to TX6 UART 6? Then, where should i place the cable that is connected by plug to the FC into SIN (S.Port on the receiver)?

Edit: Also, on the receiver, S.BUS OUT is not connected. Wonder if needed

You need S.BUS OUT connected to the UART RX pin on the UART that you have selected for Serial RX.

I got lost, sorry, i'm not sure now what i need to connect or disconnect.
What i have now is Inverted S to UART 1 (Soldered directly to TX1) and S. Port connected through the pin to SIN (that should be UART6), i also have GRN and 5V which always should be.

So it should be Inverted.S to UART 1 (soldered directly to TX1 as it is) - take out S.Port and instead solder and place SBUS_OUT through the pin to SIN (That should be UART6 RX). So at the end it should be 4 connections, GND, 5V, SBUS_OUT and Inverted.S. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Just SBUS (out) to your FC SBUS (in) and the inverted S-port to a TX uard pin on the FC for telemetry. It does not matter which one, only that it is free and not in use for something else. Set this on the port tab.

Cut the S-port/ F-port connection, because for a single wire ( TX and RX ) connection you must flash your receiver with a different firmware and set up
this on Betaflight.

Don't connect Inverted S. Start with just SBUS_OUT and power, ground.

On the manual, there is uart1 set for smartport...... just use this port.

Thank you for the explanations, it's working -properly- now.

Oner thing i've notice is that the battery sensor is not accurate, the reading i'm getting is off by some amps (16.83 was the read of BF and the battery was on 16.56, so 0.3 i guess; well, i need to do it again with a full charge, this seems like nothing now that i'm typing)

The RSSI on OSD is confusing me. On the UART tab i have the factory settings, while on the receiver tab i have RSSI channel set to "Disabled"; if i plug the quad toi the PC and connect the battery, the OSD on my googles display RSSI on 98% or so, without the TX connected; but if i turn on the TX, pug the quad to the PC and plug the battery in, RSSI signal goes to 0; i can see the RSSI symbol on my TX nevertheless, and as soon as i arm the quad, RSSI value on OSD goes to 99%. I've walked around the house to see if it drop but it wont, not sure if that's because the module have good power or because is not set properly.

RSSI is on aux12 ( channel16 on the receiver), set it and you have RSSI. In addition check the settings on Betaflight configurator via CLI....



Edit: The RSSI on your transmitter is direct telemetry( over air) and the osd shows what the FC get over S-port from the receiver.
If you disable the rssi channel then there is no data....

I've set it to AUX 12 and still not RSSI working properly, as you say, i need to let know BF that my signal is not inverted, but which one? serialrx_inverted = OFF or tlm_inverted = OFF? I'm prone to think i have to set ON tlm_inverted since i've used the Inverted S. to connect on the UART, but i don't want to mess around without being sure first :P

Sorry, I am still on version 3.5.6 with my 5inch...it works well and the 7inch and planes are on Inav .

Canīt find any issue with your dump, but remember -Invert an inverted signal and is not inverted!-
The problem for you is to understand the FRSKY crappy idoms.
Frsky uses normally an inverted signal on the S-port , but now, with the stupid "inverted" expression, it is no more inverted on this line.

Set tlm_inverted = OFF

Edit:
On a F3 and F7 you can change the uart setting for inverted and normal signals but not on a F4 chip.
So stay on the Betaflight stand setting for this.
