F5J in Hollister-Day 1 results

Just checked most of the scorecards and updated the online scores on PDF of day 1 is attached.

Got a bit of a late start but flew 7 rounds today. Weather was sunny, hot, and fairly calm in the AM with good lift if you didn't shoot too low. Then the winds came up and got progressively stronger and made for some very challenging flights. Guys tried lots of things in the wind including daring downwind runs. Most ended up fairly high in the "hot NW corner" trying their hand at surfing.

Will shoot for four AM rounds then the fly-offs after a lunch break.

More soon.

I second that remark! Ali was a class act, making almost no mistakes throughout the Prelims. Our little group had a great time dining Saturday night! Too bad Armstrong wasn't handy for the hanging... Hahahahahaha..... Did I mention we had a great time??
Next year is going to be pretty cool.....

Ali knew something no one else did in Round 3 of the flyoffs. Nice flying.

What models were folks flying?

The F5J USA Tour season standings were just updated with the F5J in Hollister results and are available on this page. Weaver and Browning just flew their 4th Tour events and moved up in the standings.

Thanks Greg and Randy. I had a good and challenging time flying and hanging with these yahoos for the weekend. Curtis, I was flying my Explorer 3.8 light in the AMs and my Xplorer 4m F5J (X3 airfoil, 50oz) in the wind, sometimes w/ 6oz ballast, most of the time dry.

Thanks All

I think everyone had a good contest. Weather was great and conditions changed enough to make it a challenging event.

A big shoutout to Chris who did a great job in helping to promote the event, providing equipment, setup, and running GliderScore. Rick lent us the remote speakers. SBSS members Russ, Peter, Bob Brown, and Moe helped out with logistics, food, water, and line judging.

Thanks to Dave Murphy who started the SVSS F5J event here and was a great supporter of this competition. And a big thank you to the pilots who came out for this event.
