They always look cooler when in slow motion, but I have never been able to get my boats to run slow like that, so.....

They’re small but offer self righting, great looks and brushless power. Will probably be a lot of fun

Looks like they have the same ESC and motor from the Recoil 17.

I'm sure my fiancee and I will grab these at some point in the future.

Might be a bigger (longer) motor. Looks like the size of the one they put in the newer Barbwire 2 and 3 now.

Motor

Wonder what it weighs compared to the Recoil 17... Larger motor wouldn't hurt.

I have a Barbwire 3 but never ran it. Maybe it's time...

It might. Those U-joint couplers have a bad rep for breaking at very high RPMs. I would not bump power on this one without major drivetrain mods.

And I see a potential issue. Note the drive entering the coupler is at an angle to the output shaft. NOT good. I don't like the looks of that.

This set-up can result in a lot of vibration at the prop and prop shaft as they speed up and slow down twice per every revolution due to the geometry. That vibration breaks parts like U-couplers and loosens prop nuts, just for starters.

THIS is why it vibrates, and is the reason your front-wheel-drive car's front axle uses constant-velocity joints instead of U-joints:

Drive shaft velocity (2 min 40 sec)
