Commercially available rotor blades

If someone told me they had a better wing for my airplane, I just wouldn’t go strap it on.
At a minimum, I’d have to check the chord and incidence.

But some rotor blades look crude. Maybe the plans just give the modeler something simple to make. Take the FA-61 in Model Builder (Clark Y) or the Synchro Gyro and DB Autogyro.

Could these be improved with an autogyro designed airfoil?

Absolutely,

The DB Gyrace shows two versions on the plan, the standard 4 blade using flat sheet. The alternative is a 3 blade with Aerofoil sections.
A few years ago Jodini converted his Gyrace and put 3 blade aerobalsa blades attached to delta 3 flapping head plates.
I can't find the thread now but it flew better than the original as they produced more lift.

Back in the day I used airfoil blades on my Gyrace as well over the stock flat slat type blades. Much improved flight performance.

Got to look up this Gyrace. What would happen if he kept the hub and added 4 airfoiled blades?

More lift/drag I would expect
