Some Questions (Electric) DAG R-2

Hello everyone,

Im building an electric DAG R-2 - my first autogyro with controllable pitch (only fixed heads before).

Now Im wondering about the tilt angle:

The plan says, that the static pitch should be set at 4 - I assume in relation to the stab? My fixed head Autogyros all fly with 12 to 15 mast angle, so I really dont know if I understand that correctly?

Next it says that for direct pitch it should be able to tilt back 20 and 10 forward. Do I get it right, that this is related to the static pitch? That is, my head has to tilt from -6 forward to 24 backward (all in relation to the stab), while neutral should be at 4 back ? Really?

If I use a motor/prop combo which delivers 1800g of static thrust (Turnigy D3642-6 swinging a 12x5 at 3s), will that be enough? I hope to get the DAG flight ready at around 1200g (fuse made mainly from depron)?

Regards from Germany,
Robin

Greetings .
Yes your assumptions are pretty much on the ball.(all relative to stab)
I have been flying a basic DAG (thats roll on head plus elevator)for many years and have always found it a pleasure to fly.I'm sure the one with a full DC head should also pose no problems . Your power should also be OK.
Happy Landings

One thing that you did not mention ..was the hang angle ? it should be at least 15 deg and up to around 18.

Im still shifting components to get it that way, but I think I need to add a little lead. Even though I mounted my motor further forward.

Remember ...no less than 15. That's the magic Number.

I am curious...what are the fixed head models that you have previously flown?

These two, no plan build, but both made from depron, the yellow with elevator/rudder only, the silver one with tailerons/rudder:

TwirlyBee Maiden (0 min 50 sec)

TwirlyBee Maiden 2 (0 min 29 sec)

Libelle Autogyro maiden (1 min 23 sec)

Both flew well with the mast angled 15 back.
