Futaba "J" connectors vs. JR-type connectors

What is the difference between Hitec HS-81 servos with a Futaba "J" connector and the ones with the JR-type plug?

The guy at the LHS sold me some Hitec 81's that are JR's, but I'm using them with a GWS Rx and a Futaba Tx.

Is the only difference that the Futaba J-style have the locator tab on the plug?

Seems like JR-type servos will plug into the Futaba Rx, but not the other way around.

Will I be ok using these with a GWS Rx and Futaba radio?

Thanks.

The keying tab on the Futaba J, and the fact that the corners are beveled on the JR, are the only difference. You will have no problem, but will have to pay attention to keying orientation.

OK I thought the servos themselves were the same. I have to check the wire orientation on the GWS Rx anyway, so that's not a problem.

I suppose JR brand servos could be used on a Futaba Rx, but not the other way around then?

JR, Hitec, and new Airtronics plugs can be universaly used. Futaba plugs must be modified to fit most other receivers, unless they are without hard cases.
