CF-18 Hornet cardboard build thread.

Hey, I have built this CF-18 Hornet from cardboard. I drew my own plans by hand. I will post pictures and the plans.
I didn't build this with intensions for it to fly. I am hoping you can gave me advice on if this type of thing will fly. I am planing to build another one like it for RC.

I think this could fly though, there is enough room inside the paper towel tube(fuselage) for reciever and battery. I could attach a stick on the end to mount a speed 400. The servos, Im not sure where they could go...
I do not want to fly this though, because I like it the way it is(not in pieces).

I dont know how to make the pictures of the plans larger and to still keep their quality. The pictures are much better. If someone could host them I could email them to you.

I think that's very nice looking for a static model out of cardboard.

I recently went to and downloaded their free F-18 plans and templates and manual. Take the .PDF file to any kinkos, it's $5 a sheet to print them out as one full size plan, or if you have patience and lots of cellophane tape, you can print it out on your home printer in what's called "tiled" format, then tape all the sheets together at the joining marks to get a full size plan. i supose this can be built using cardboard, but foam will be lighter.

The Foamy F-18 is an impressive yet practical size, looks very scale int he air, and the guys in the jets forum seem to really rave about it. You can buy it as a precut kit, or use the free plans and some Fan Fold foam from the local home center (or depron from a vendor) to create a light and good-performing scale version, that flies on an inexpensive GWS pusher prop system. I think you'll really like this, you already have obvious good decorating and detailing skills to make a very convincing model.

Good luck!

I imagine most flyers would think this is too heavy to fly.
How about some specs. wing span weight etc.

Aten W Arthog,
HAHA clever name... Iv'e been looking at the F-18 and 15. I think Im going to order one today. The problem is that I cant decide whether to get the 18 or 15?
What do you all think?

Do you think a speed 400 from greatplanes(probably Electrifly)
would be fine for this?
I would need a gearbox right? or no?

Not sure where to begin:

Will it fly? I don't know, we really could use some dimensions like wing span and length. The question was posed earlier and you did not follow up.

Will a speed 400 work? I don't know, we really need dimensions, weight, and a better understand of how your plane is built. For example, the wings appear to be a simple sheet of card board. Its a good bet they would fold up instantly.

If I could suggest, perhaps you should spend some time here.

Keep up the design work, and best of luck of to you. RC is a really fun hobby.

Ok. Iv'e given up the cardboard design, so Im not going to post dimensions.
I was asking if the 400 would work in the 3dfoamy 15 or 18, but I should ask that in the jet forum.

The site is down, so does anyone have the phone number for me?

The site is working for me.

Tough choice, they both look like good planes, get the one that you think looks best.
