MiG-17 Fresco 90mm EDF by Avios / HK / AF-Model
The new MiG-17 edf is made I think by AF-Model, and distributed by Hobbyking under the Avios brand,

The MiG-17 is made by AF-Model ("Air Fly Limited") : www.af-model.com The full-scale MiG-17 has a wingspan of 9.63m and a length of 11.26m : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-17 whereas the model has a wingspan of 120cm and a length of 142cm, which gives an approximate scale of ~ 1:8.0 . . The MiG-17 comes with a 90mm plastic fan with an outrunner motor (claimed to be a 3541 1550kv), which I will replace.
It is claimed that the stock setup on 6S pulls ~ 80A x 22V or ~ 1800W ... The stock esc is rated at 100A. Most likely I will first try a WeMoTec 90mm MidiFan evo, or an FMS 90mm fan with a quality inrunner motor, . |

I once had a MiG-17 fiberglass 75mm EDF, made by EAM. It flew pretty well until the elevator servo mount detached ...
That is when I found out that epoxy resin does not stick to polyester, here specifically a polyester fuselage. . |

I don't particularly like that white/gray/black camo it's painted in, so I will re-surface and re-paint mine, most likely in a russian (soviet) scheme

Hi; I'm planning on buying the plane too and also change the color scheme to a more classic one...since I want to put a turbine in it I have to go fuel-resistant paint brand.. it would be nice to see the process you do.

If you plan to install a small turbine in yours then Henke is your man
The turbine is placed all the way at the end of the fuselage, to avoid melting the foam ... whether that causes CG issues will be interesting to find out ... teh fuel tank has to be located close to the CG. I believe Henke is installing a Kolibri turbine in his. |

The MiG-17 offers a number of interesting options when it comes to repaint :
Soviet air force, Polish, Chek, North Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, China, Syria, Egypt, DDR etc. and of course current US ownership ... . |

Elevator and Rudder details,
EDIT : Note that on mine the rod connecting upper and lower rudders was not glued in properly / loose. That causes the upper rudder to get out of alignment with respect to the lower one, and could cause trim problems. . |
