FrSky New Arrival - Taranis X9D Plus & SE 2019

The FrSky Taranis X9D Plus 2019 is a re-designed version with additions like an additional momentary button placed on the top left shoulder making it ergonomically friendly for DLG pilots to activate launch mode, and features a program scroll wheel making it even easier to navigate the menus. The upgraded MCU is used in conjunction with a re-designed mainboard that further increases the computing capability and increases the data storage. The upgrades not only improve the running of LUA scripts, it also optimizes overall performance like voice speech outputs.

The 2019 version uses the latest ACCESS communication protocol, it boasts 24 channels with a faster baud rate and lower latency with a high-speed module digital interface. Along with the new spectrum analysis function added to the OpenTX firmware, it is now possible to check the airwaves for RF noise. This version will give you a further improved experience based on the classic Taranis remote control. Additionally, tons of extra upcoming features that ACCESS brings will make this an ideal transmitter for any skill level.

When will we be able to buy it please?

Will it be possible to customise orders? I would like a silver SE.

Are the M9 gymbals the same as those sold now for the X9D? Will I be able to use my relatively new M9R gymbals in the new radio?

Hi Andrea,

Could you please clarify following questions:

1. Will an XJT RF module work in the JR module extension slot?
2. Can it be used simultaneously with internal RF module?
3. Can both internal and external RF module be operated in telemetry mode? Or must user decide for either the on or the other?

Nice to see that the SEs have standard switch labels etc. on them now, unlike the 'bare' shells of the previous version.

Yes.
You may contact our dealers when they have replaceable accessories or customized products in stock.
And you can also use your M9/M9R gimbals on this new radio, no problem.

Hi FJH,

For your questions,

yes, it's similar to use the external module just like you did on original X9D Plus radio. And the good thing is, you can get the full speed signal transmission through the UART of this new radio connecting with the external module like R9M 2019.

With the original "old" X9D (and X9E) we experienced each other interferences in simultaneous operation of internal and external XJT modules. That interferences were and are still the reason, not to use an external XJT simultaneously with the internal XJT in "old" X9D. This is the background for my questions #2 and #3 in my recent post. Maybe you review this condition with your technicans and then hopefully can clarify that detail.

Is it transmitter only or does it come with Battery, charger, case,...?
Is it possible to add a 6-pos switch like on the classic X9D(+)?

The previous version came with the standard labels, just still on the sticker sheet.

This looks great, the (few) UI warts of the classic are largely fixed and ACCESS is included.

I do have a few questions.

1. Does this mean that there will be no ACCESS upgrade for older X9D+'s?
2. On the 2019 model, is the S.Port line seperate between the external module and internal module (allowing both to deliver telemetry) or shared like the older design
3. Does the pushbutton switch use a standard switch hole? IE can it be moved to a better shoulder location

And why the heck are you still using Mini USB? It's a dead interface and its replacement is also dying. How about proper USB-C....

I know, but it would have been much easier to fit them before the switches & knobs were mounted on the Tx.

Please give this new Tx a new name

The names: "Taranis X9D, X9D+ and X9D+ SE" are already taken. Naming this new Tx the same as its predecessor will guarantee a LOT of confusion on these support threads! Although it looks and feels a lot like the X9D, this is an entirely new product that will undoubtedly have its own set of issues different from that of the original. Having the same name will cause a lot of questions where us support folks will be asking: "Which X9D are you talking about? The 2019 version is very different from the original".

Please give this new and significantly different transmitter a new and unique name!

Just sayin'

Well, it looks completely the same so the same name with year tag seems understandable. It is also not that different in terms of anything else. A lot of problems are also with OpenTX etc.

The '2019' suffix will seem an odd choice in a couple of years.
