Question

Source for low voltage LEDs?

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a UMX Carbon Cub SS off of a member here, NIB. While I'm still waiting for it to come in the post, I thought I'd order a couple parts and modifications for it. Besides some Eflite L4 Grasshopper 250 main gear wheels for tundra tires, the other modifications I'm thinking of are a tail light, and red anti-collision beacon and all the lights on a switch (I have a couple spare servo boards).

Last time I ordered micro LEDs I used wholesaletrains.com, but it appears they have gone out of business. Does anyone have a good source for low voltage (3-5v, idk what the exact servo port voltage is on a 2s brick) 120 degree viewing angle micro LEDs?

Marlin P Jones in West Palm Beach FL is a good source for small electronic components. No minimum and a $6.96 flat rate shipping.

Most small LEDs this size look to draw about 20 ma each. Turn on voltage is usually about 1.7v and they can run up to 3.3v. These numbers change a little between the different color LEDs. A single LED on a 5 volt source will want a resistor somewhere between 220 & 480 ohms. Putting more than one LED in series will of course change things. MP Jones also has resistor packs for a few dollars that would give you a pretty good variety to choose from.

They also have packs of a single color, 100 3 mm red for $1.95

Yeah. The span of choices makes a EE's knees weak.

Thanks, guys! I ordered a few from Evan's Designs (https://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/) should be here Monday. They're a bit pricier than elsewhere at about $2.50 per unit, but I've used them before on a project and they're very helpful with questions.
