Thanks.

I like it so much I'm looking for a bigger, maybe 1/4 scale size for a gasser.

Could you explain your painting procedure? I sprayed 3 coat of silver dope on Koverall and can still see through the airframe, where as your colors look really solid + GLOSSY !

is silver the final color?

I sprayed white first. It took about 5 light coats of white as the base, then the other colors only took 2 coats. After putting the vinyl lettering on I sprayed 2 coats of clear Butyrate.

Is it possible you are using too high pressure? Maybe spray a LITTLE wetter.

A trick I learned from full scale aircraft painting (dope) is to put your paint in the fridge overnight I believe it slows the drying a bit.

It was my first time spraying dope and yes silver is the final color. I was thinking of brushing the 4th coat on to see what happens. Sig Butyrate on the Smith mini plane.

Spray it. Little heavier, watch for runs. Little less pressure, try dope in the fridge.

What are you using to reduce/thin dope?

I have in the past wet sanded with 800 grit and painted.

by the way, are you spraying cross coats? one coat should be one horizontal on vertical.

so in reality its six coats.

I would like one that size. I have a 25 cc Chinese two stroke on my list to convert to aero application. It might be a suitable size for a 1/4 scale Skybolt.
I suppose I would just build from a 3 view drawing, which seems to be my habit.
Unless, of course, there is a 1/4 scale plan around?

However, for my little 25 cc engine, a smaller scale would be suitable. That will take some judgement and careful assessment.
I am accustomed to building from a 3 view drawing.............that is not a problem for me.
