45' st Type Utility Tug

This is an announcement for a New Product, a nice looking kit from Loyalhanna Dockyard, a long-awaited 45 ST TYPE UTILITY TUG[, based on the old Microglass hull.

The kit is 1/24th scale, about 24 inches long by 6.5 wide.

This one I have here was packaged well, came with: Hull

Multiple sheets of well-detailed building plans

Detailed itemized parts list

Prints of the subject taken at the Ft. Eustis Army Transportation Museum in Va.

10 piece laser cut styrene cabin parts in marked bags

Multiple bags of quality cast resin parts in marked bags

Cast resin rudder All needed running hardware can be provided, contact Loyalhanna directly so a set can be customized to the builders needs.

Here is a breakdown of the cost for the 1/24th scale kit:

  • Fittings set $135.00
  • Laser-cut wood or styrene cabin/superstructure set $110.00
  • Fiberglass hull and plans $80.00

Total $325.00

Don at Loyalhanna indicates that the website will be updated as quickly as possible to show this kit.

Currently, it shows the 1/32nd and 1/16th versions though complete kit with fittings/house parts are available for 24th, 32nd and 16th scale kits.

This is only a heads up on the availability of the kit, [I]a build log will come soon ~

Great models posted here

My mistake, 6.25 inches wide ~

Several Great builds of this subject have been done here, RMay's large version and BobSF's fine example built on the Microglass 34 inch hull:

I have had one of these hulls since right after Don acquired the molds. He and I have discussed the house parts, but I wanted to see what they looked like before ordering. Could you PLEASE post some better photo's, and are the windows and doors cut out?

CB send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will send some photos of the laser cut parts. I am not the best photographer but hopefully they will give you some additional information

That's a nice kit that you got there. Is this your next build after your fishing boat?

Howdy Sylvain, not sure if it will be this kit, but there is Definitely a Tug coming into the shop after the Scottish lobster boat ...

In the mean time, looking forward to seeing others take advantage of this pioneering kit from Loyalhanna ...

Scale Equipment Ltd. has some detail items that could help detail the 1/24th scale model. Some of the detail items are figures; brooms; coffee maker & mugs; coolers; flashlights' binoculars; 55 gal drums; jerry cans; shop vac; and axes.
