I agree it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing at all, but Diatone have been doing well recently with the products they've been releasing so I'm willing to try this out to see if it performs well, given it also has Bob involved in the design.

BUT you all do realise the arms are vertical profile right? That's potentially a pretty big thing. Will be interesting to see how that frame holds up and if that type of profile takes off.

Welp, if Bob wants to take the credit, he can also take the blame.

The problem I see with those frames is you have to be very careful flying around trees. Other than that, he should just use the bigger frame for all 3 quads so that we can also put the 3" props on the 2s version.

Brain fade moment: What does 'vertical profile arms' mean?

the width is less than the thickness.
micro frames are typically 1.5 to 3mm thick with arms usually over 4-5+ mm wide.
this looks to be the opposite and then some.
(guessing) 1-2.5mm wide but 4mm(+) thick. ?
this would be very cool if it works durability wise. the 'ugly' shape may be part of that trade off.

It looks like 3mm thick, with 1mm wide arms most of the way.

It's a neat idea but uh I wouldn't want to beta test this.

The 3" version is clearly very light.

But the 65mm versions are strictly average specs. After you add the RX and route the antennas, there's no apparent gain.

Ultimate let down: he didn't switch them over to 3-hole motor mount. He probably could have made it happen.

That's ok since you wouldn't be staring at it for long when you start flying. LOL

I saw the vertical frame design first on the karearea a while back. I've seen a similar design like this on YT used in drone racing.

the design makes sense from an aerodynamic standpoint. The thinner profile provides less turbulence, more thrust, and (should) maximize efficiency of the motors.
