What class boat would this be?

I'm looking for some information on the simple hydroplane models I used to see with a pod and boom kind of construction like the attached top view sketch I attached. The main hull was a fairly simple box and the two sponsons were mounted on simple tube supports. I'm interested in building a simple one for electric power on a small local pond. Any leads on boat model names, plans, kits, links or whatever would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

edit.... I just stumbled onto some pictures of outrigger boats or "riggers" and it's what I was remembering. I'm still interested in design or kit info. I still don't know the official name of the class and if it's still active and etc.

Normally this design was used for "Tethered" operation. Central pole in pond and tether of wire or string from this to a two point bridle fastened to boat. This system was/is still used for some RTP (round the pole) operations for aircraft and cars (And flash steam boats) where operator is outside the circle when running.

Design not very useful for free running or R/C control due to straight line design ie. poor turning circle.

Regards Ian.

This is a good site for people interested in this rather specialist and vintage aspect of the hobby...

Sorry to burst your bubble but here in the states we use them in Hydro class and nicknamed them Lobster Boats or Rigger. The racers find them very useful . The answer to the question is they are a Hydro for class type.
