Or maybe similar lack?
There are many ways apparently with everything (including carbon fibre strips) being recommended.
Personally I'm going for the cross-fibre tape (I have a big roll I bought to protect my wing leading edges from trees and I'll cover that with "gaffer" tape (I have a roll of Gorilla tape courtesy of a friendly workman).
That will add some weight so I'll also reinforce the areas around the body mounts.
The body is quite fragile and needs as much strengthening as you deem sensible. One of the reasons why the spare wheel will not be fitted on mine

Annoyingly local stockists all seem to have suddenly run out of stock.......
It was bound to happen.
Waits to see if /when new stock arrives

I am told by two UK suppliers that stock has been ordered and that they think the turn-around will be 2-3 weeks
They would not be drawn on prices however

When you hit the "picture" tab on google you may find some sellers from Poland and Chechia. Dont know how they are prized.

I think for now, I'm going to sit back and see what develops.
If stock comes in I'll buy and if it doesn't then I'll look elsewhere and weigh up the options.
If no stock is available there are alternative machines out there

I actually drove one of those when they first came out. My mate had just invested in one when they announced the Kanyon. It was one of the reasons I considered the Kanyon at all as it shares 95% of the chassis and running gear. It's another big soft-running truck and great for FPV
it's sold here both in that name but more commonly as the FTX Mighty Thunder.
As a "monster truck" it is absolutely great and performs very well on tarmac, gravel and grass trails but add in the crawler kit and a set of wheels that give decent traction and the cost comes out nearly the same as the Kanyon which I am told will be in stock again mid to late August
I've been looking at them again this week and contemplating my options

My thought was getting one of these for cheap, and using a aftermarket body shell. BG sells a nice scale Jeep body shell for $30. It is easy to lock the diffs, but needs more effort the other way around. I would be able to lock the rear diff only, like with my 10428. No need for the crawler kit! Playdoh would work to lock the diff, I guess.
I would have locked only the rear diff, changed to 3s and maybe used one of the aftermarket scale body shells.
Would have been enough for my kind of FPV driving on soft trails.
Possibly this route would have been cheaper in my case! But I like the big body shell of the DF4J also!

Body shell (Wheel base doesnt fit exactly, but I have to lift the body shell for the bigger wheels anyways!):

I have changed the stock tires of my DF4J to 160mm ones. I am using 25mm axle wideners, but I guess 20mm would work too.
https://www.ebay.de/itm/Aluminum-12m...72.m2749.l2649
Dscription says 155mm, but they are closer to 160mm.

Still have to make the chassis strengthening, and possibly to lift the body shell. Possibly I will find the time on sunday to do it and will post some pics or vids!

Would be interesting to know which ESC is on the Mighty Thunder. In the manual of the ESC are 3 different versions. Only the third one is for 3s too. In my DF4J the second ESC is installed.

I guess you will need only Playdoh for the diffs and around $40 for wheels and axle wideners.

Maybe lesser if you choose cheaper wheels. There are a lot of options for smaller wheels for around $20.

Also an advantage going this route is that you wont have to make the chassis strengthening mod. This mod is required for the Kanyon/DF4J body shell only, I guess.
