Next E-Flite UMX EDF - How about a bomber?

E-Flite has already gone twin UMX EDF, with the A-10. Next logical step, cold war era bomber? A B-47 with 4 EDFs would be WAY cool. Or how about the never modeled Tupulov Badger? This would look great with an E-Flite Mig 15 escort.

I guess I'll say never say never, since flyzone just released a micro biplane........

But if they're gonna do a UMX bomber, it SO needs to be a B58 hustler!!!! They could do it with the A-10 equipment list and the performance would be decent (once the JST is replaced with a XT-30 and a real battery is used).

If it flies, I can crash it.

I have the remains of one wrecked A-10, and a second I just repaired after a failed hand launch javelined it in to the ground. If it goes in again, that's it for A-10s. But the motor nacelles look almost about right for the inboard engines on a B-47 and seeing as I'll have two of 'em (they're highly survivable in a crash, as it turns out), I was thinking a UMX B-47 would be sweet.

Don't think they'd do a four-engine ducted fan bomber. The whining, living -in-their mom's basement, don't have any money losers are always whining that the MiG-15s and F-16s cost too much, so they'd never buy a four -engine plane that would have to cost 200-300 bucks. HH knows that, so if they did another multi-engine jet it'd probably be an ME-262 or something popular, not a huge bomber that maybe five guys would actually buy.
If you want a B-47 or B-52, buy all the parts and scratch build one for about $400.
I wish all the guys complaining that $130 is too much for a MiG-15 could have been around years ago when a jet had to be powered by a nitro -powered ducted fan setup where the engine cost more than a RTF jet does today. (And flew like crap. )
People spent $1000 + for jets that barely flew that would be a couple grand in today's dollars.
HH will only make planes that will sell by the hundreds of thousands. That limits it to the same four or five planes that everyone else does. I was surprised they did a MiG-15 instead of an F-86, but I guess because the MiG was so superior to the F-86 and flew better, plus the Chinese air force flew them and they're made in China, is why we got lucky on that one.

Likely why God gave us pusher prop powered 'scale' jets
Faster, Simpler, and cheaper too..
Indistinguishable from an edf .. when airborne.

True, the 4 EDFs for a B-47 would cost a bit, but you could do a Badger with only 2, maybe even one.

An 8 EDF B-52 would be awesome, and wouldn't even be that small. But the cost would definitely be prohibitive.

I guess another problem with a multi EDF is of course the fact you would need brushless motors, along with a brushless ESC for each motor. They were able to make an affordable B-17, because the motors are brushed and can use a Spectrum brick for the ESC. Still, we can dream...

Two fans is more than enough for a micro of reasonable weight, so they could use the guts of the UMX A-10.

Actually, here is a project that worked great, but the kit never made production. The prototype flew amazingly well.

Didn't mean to sound crotchety but over the years on the forums you constantly hear losers saying how they want some great product, then if it actually gets produced they're nowhere to be found. Angelo is right -it would cost a ton and the companies in China know that 99% of the big talkers won't spend a dime, so they aren't going to spend $100,000 designing and producing a plane that'll only sell a few hundred units, if that.
Joe1320- there's a great UMX MiG-29 out there now. The Blitzworks one with 30mm fans, slightly larger than the A-10 28mm fans. The scale is great except for the too-long nose and wrong canopy but I'm just finishing one and after modifying the nose and making a new scale canopy it's looking great. That's about as big as I'd want in an EDF jet anyway.

The companies in China read these forums and what they hear you saying is " Make a four -engine jet bomber with twice the fans, brushless motors, ESCs, and sell it for the price of the UMX A-10 and I and ten other guys will buy it. When it goes on sale . If my wife/mommy lets me... "
