The He-162 is still a work in progress regarding it's flight characteristics

* After six good flights I settled on a throttle-to-elevator mix of ~4%

* Flap-to-elevator mix is up to 9% (it needs quite a bit of down elevator when the flaps are deployed)

* CG moved back a couple of mm, will try some more at some point.

Visibility is still a bit of an issue turning on final, might need a yellow ring on the intake.

Still working on a better way to secure the battery ... and re-balance the fan, I think the green epoxy factory weight inside the rotor must have flown off.

Fan to noisy but pod could be working like a resonance box.

Glue some foam squares to it to absorb sound vobrations.

Nice paint job.

You have done a great job ..And RBC ..it looks super!
The fan is most likely not getting clean air..it would be pretty turbulent coming off the canopy

Thanks ! Yes RBC did a great job on this one ...

Yes dirty turbulent air could also be an issue, but I think on this one the spun aluminum spinner for some reason is not centered on the rotor, even tried different WeMo spinners. Next flights w/o spinner. Overall the noise does decrease though when it picks up speed

Regarding resonances, yes that's also an issue since both the lightweight hollow pod and the hollow fuse resonate, my nacelle is already stuffed full with cotton balls ...

After five flights, it was time to improve on the battery tray setup ... was not sure initially if my current batts would give a sensible CG.

Now with the additional velcro strap it should be a lot more secure (first flights were all more or less flying ovals & fine tune the mixes ).

The RBC plan gives a CG of ~58mm ... Re-calculating it here for the RBC kit gives a range of 45mm to 65mm ... The Neutral Point (NP) is computed at ~94mm.

The RBC plan CG worked well for the maiden (with plenty of elevator throw, just in case), but I think it can go back a few mm's.

58mm on the 1100 mm RBC size model puts the CG at the same spot as the CG I calculated for my 1:4,5 scale 1580 mm He-162 (83 mm CG). The landing gear moves the cg a few mm, so I balance mine within a few mm of that spot with gear both up and down.

I designed it with the efflux pointing up 2, which eliminated throttle/pitch coupling.

Some minor cockpit work, just to dress it up a bit ... The pilot is a VQ model one I had lying around.

Simple mylar wipes installed on all the surfaces, to close the hinge gap on the bottom, from the top live hinge (used special hinge gap tape a few years ago),
