The coolest video you'll see today

RCGroups member Maxxborg sent me this video of him flying his Turbo Bushmaster with an Insta360 One X camera. It was so awesome I had to share it. This camera is crazy and provides angles and views not possible with standard cameras. Here's some more info from Maxxborg about the setup:

"The cool thing about this camera is if you use their selfie stick, then the stick disappears. Each camera records 190 degrees and the software meshes it together automatically. After you're done with recording you download it to your tablet or computer and pick the angle you want. The other cool thing about this camera is it has a gyro in it and it stabilizes the video almost perfectly. It also doesnt matter if the camera is upside down sideways or any which way it records upright. Meaning the ground is always down. Unless you want to switch it in post processing.

I thought how cool would it be if I mounted it to an airplane. One of my favorite planes is the Turbo bushmaster by extreme flight. It's pretty big so I figured it would be able to handle it. I made a cool 3d printed mount that clamps around the backside of my battery tray. In the center of the mount is a 1/4 threaded screw. I mounted it fairly close to the CG. Then in the hatch I drilled a hole for the selfie stick to go through. I first tried with the selfie stick in the lowest position and it felt basically normal. Hardly could tell it was there. Then I moved it up one spot which put the camera about 20 above the plane. Still not much difference. Then I tried it at about 30 and still flew fine with a bit of down trim needed. Everything held up great. Its fun playing with camera position after the filming. Im hoping to do more fun videos with this setup."

I think it is a great video, and you should submit it to the maker of the camera- they might put a link to it on their website.

Also, I think it is a great introduction to our hobby for someone who has never seen a model airplane- unlike traditional fpv videos or from-the-ground videos, you can see the plane and the scenic aerial view.

With my motion sickness kicking in I was only able to watch maybe 30 seconds, but it's amazing how camera technology has advanced.
