Blade 230S V2 stability for a 360CFX?

Beginner flying a 230Sv2 , would it be possible to replace the 360CFX stock FBL with the 230SV2 version with safe? Not a 3D flyer and won’t ever be one, but I do love the stability of the 230.... is this a totally insane replacement?

That won't work because of the belted vs. motorized tail for one. If you want stability modes on the 360CFX simple put on a Spirit FBL. Then you will have several stability modes to choose from and also rescue.

If it flies, I can crash it.

You have to spend $99 to have it enabled in that FBL. It's already there but they disable it until you pay the extra. Most hobby stores can do it for you. I've purchased used Spirit FBL's for less than that including a Pro.

Still in search of a simple answer, I’d buy a blade 270 AS3X receiver with safe already setup, that should be setup for a belt drive tail, correct? I’ve just tried setting dual rates on the 360 to 50% and it’s still touchy beyond belief. DX8G2 Tx with the stock program downloaded from the spektrum site. Need to tame this thing down a lot or shelve it for now.

You would still have to most likely go in and change things like gains to get it to perform correctly on the different model. The Fusion 270 doesn't have an actual flying stability mode BTW. The SAFE feature on it is currently meant for recovery only. I did just order the Fusion 270 ARF and plan on putting one of my Spirit FBL's on it.

Also, the stability mode on the 230sv2 is really the best I've seen. I have a 250cfx with stability mode also but it isn't nearly as stable. It isn't super twitchy like the 360 sounds but it does wander around more than the 230 which is rock solid like it is on rails. The 230s is in version 2 which they obviously refined alot. The only downside of the 230sv2 I've noticed is the battery connector is a puny jst connector rated for 3 amp power and small wires. Thats just stupid, it should be ec3 or xt30 battery connector at least something rated for 30 amp.

I put a Spirit FBL in my 360CFX. Stability modes work fantastic as well as rescue. I don't use them often but it's sure nice being there.

Pic is before wiring was all tuck away nice and neat.

How does the 360cfx fly with the spirit fbl? Is it real sensitive with basic setup or does that have to be programmed and fine tuned? I would be tempted to get a 360cfx if I could have stability mode. Nice to hear its at least possible.

You can set it up in stability to your liking. Anywhere from a coaxial like mode to an acrobatic mode that will let you fly upside down but stabilize. There is a slider to even pick how fast you want the servos to correct it back to level. When I put the Spirit on it worked very well with just the basic wizard setup. Not much fine tuning needed. You could also get a Brain/Ikon FBL which has self leveling modes but I like the Spirit better. The Spirit is much less sensitive to vibrations.

Where can you buy Spirit FBL? I searched amazon and didn't see any. Nevermind I found the website searching on spirit fbl.

some say you can put a 230 v2 receiver in a belt drive heli and some say no. i updated the software on my 360cfx not thinking that it has a specific firmware for my heli. now it will only work in an airplane... all because i wanted safe. any way to revert back to the cfx firmware? my current receiver is a AR636a part# BLH5054
