Latest news-

Perhaps why I've been having these rpm fluctuations...............

Happened to peer into the inlets today.....#2 fan has NO BLADES!!!!

I have no idea when these came off. The thing flew on 3 of the 4 fans thrust, even tho there were the oscillations.

Now in the process of retrofitting Mad Thrust 40mm x 4. Next report will take a while.

Someone else who built a B-49 was having big problems with fan harmonics and resonance.

Yes, thanx Turbo.......I was anticipating how little thrust could fly this thing, so the 40s will be overkill. I may try using only 2 of them after I get the thing trimmed out.

The 40s will give much better reliability tho, looking fwd to that.

All fans now fitted, ducts too, just adding fairings below the exhausts in the wing cutout. Some rebalance will be required but not bad. Hope to fly next week!

Success again!!

This time for real!!! Now fitted with the 40mm fans (x4), it worked!!

Its true! Just got back from a 5 minute real maiden, no sqwauks at all. Flies very light, no adverse yaw so will be trimming the fins down to whatever the minimum will be. Much quieter with the 40mm, seemed to be cruising at about 30% throttle. Full throttle did not accelerate it much. Used ~43% of the charge. (NO THRUST TUBES!!!!)

My bud took video which I'll link as soon as possible.

I have the dropbox links to the vids but can't figure out how to upload to Youtube. If someone would volunteer to do this, I'll send the links.

Well, never mind! I'll just put the links here and skip that middle step.

The last one is the best/longest!

It does look to fly very well Ken. Hand launch a bit iffy.

With the sound and the appearance of the airframe, the neighbors are likely to be calling in UFO sightings!

Great job though. Very well done. Looks like it flies very lightly given it's size.

Thanks all.

J- I was just a bit too stiff at the time to achieve escape velocity as well as only at part throttle.

Cat- It is VERY light, 33 ozs for 96" span, thos add a few ozs now for the 40mm fans. I wait until 10am+ so the noise doesn't wake anyone...
