What battery charger do you use?
Could someone please recommend a good charger for NiMH and NiCD batteries? I need to charge my 250mah and 600mah packs. Not so much interested in quick charging, but peak detection is a necessity. What is everyone out there using?

for those sizes, i would highly suggest a Jeti Mini Peak Charger (about $30 from hobby-lobby.com). It's the charger that I use. it charges great, and will handle both sizes you want. it will do NiMH packs, but the technique is a little bit different. it is explained in the manual. for Nicad packs, it will charge anything from 50 to 800 mAh, and for NiMH packs, it will charge from 300 to 1500 mAh. the NiMH packs will take an hour to charge, as they have to charge at a rate equal to their capacity. but it'll charge up a nicad pack pretty quickly. And, as the name points out, it does have peak detection, and it switches to a 15 mAh trickle charge once it reaches the peak

I used the Simprop Intellicharger for nicads and nimh cells. It's made for various outlets such as FMA, Hobby Lobby, etc. It will meet your needs now and in the future.

I use the Hitec CG-335 DC-DC Multi Purpose Charger w/ Digital Display. Just turn the current down to min. (500mA) for all my Slow Flyer packs (110mA-350mA)

I have 2 Orbit chargers that will do ANY type battery pack.
I also have a Dymond mini charger that does up to 8 cells and is very compact. It is the same as the Multiplex. They are around $40. |

Remeber if your using a Jeti Peak charger you'll have to get a 12V source.

Hitec CG335 for the bigger packs (500ma to 2400ma), and Jeti mini charger for packs 110ma - 800ma

All the above chargers require a 12v source. Almost any peak charger will allow you to set the current. How long you wish the charge will take will be up to that and the discharge of the pack.

I'm using a Schulze isl6-430 and a Robbe PowerPeak Infinity 2.

The other point is that there is no sufficient delta-peak with low current ( i.e. normla charge ), esp. with small cells. Achim [This message has been edited by Achim Stegmeier (edited 04-21-2001).] |
