strut mounting plates installed in wing panels. just need to drill for strut fittings and install blind nuts. using strut fittings from Carbon Cub. they are the same fittings from the 1/4 Cub and Super Cub. Nice pre-made pieces. glassed landing gear fairings with light weight cloth. also glassed boot cowl balsa sheeting. it will be filled and smoothed with primer later to represent sheetmetal as full scale. wing panel covering coming shortly. that will be nice to done with majority of basic covering.

Thanks GAANDAHL. second panel down. All major covering completed. Pinked tapes ordered for that extra scale detail look. more tedious tasks to tackle.

Thanks Steve, appreciate. yep, building is good for the soul. its a great escape. just really hot these days in SE TX trying to work in the garage.

progress from last night and today. got cowl fitted to firewall and and mounted, will be nice, cowl will not have any exposed screws or bolts. they are hidden inside. will attach going through cowl vent holes. got firewall glassed to seal it. major work today, primered simulated boot cowl, discovered bunch of pinholes from glass work. I should have added seconded coat. passed that point. got out the spot putty, filled, sanded, primed a couple more coats. then added small screws to represent attachment hardware for boot cowl. build up primer along vertical line on sides of fuselage to represent sheet metal thickness. came out nice in the end. just took more work than I expected originally. pics of progress

Thanks GSAV8R.

no pics today. laminated some fiberglass tape tying the cowl to the plywood former that attaches the cowl to the firewall. nothing else exciting.

minimal building this week. tonight I took the time to finalize squaring the wing with fuse. added hardwood blocks for wing mounting bolts. got a floor and hatch installed in cabin area. there is enough depth under floor to conceal flight pack. in addition, there is a enough length to wear battery flight pack can be shifted almost 12" front to back to assist in final balance. all for now

Firewall looks good!
Good thing you have plenty of room in that nose.
I built the Precedent Stampe and the cabanes and landing gear mount used up all the room.
The tank is mounted in a cutout in the firewall right below the motor mount box, between the front gear leg mounts.
Works well tho. The big Life batt had to go beside the rx over the bottom wing.

Enjoying the build.

thanks Taildragger1589, definitely did lose some real estate with gear leg mounting. fortunately wider nose than the Stampe.

building board update. moved inside to some nice ac. guest bedroom.

worked on cowl mounting and final cuts for muffler, carb and spark plug. ran into minor issue using kit designed cowl mounting. had to abandon the wood keyway and added two screw on bottom of cowl ring to attach to firewall. screws still hidden so works well.

progress still moving. lot of other priorities popping lately.

started detail work on cowl. first coat primer applied, 1/16 chart tape applied to duplicate panel lines. 2-3 coats primer will be applied to build edge lines of panel lines then chart tape pulled. also need to add screw/bolt details on cowl. pinked tapes showed up with exception of perimeter width tape. both wing panel ribs done, rudder done and a couple pieces on fuselage started. more to come. little hard to fully capture in picture at this time. rudder may look strange with internal framing showing through coverite and applied pinked tape. pinked tape applied in scale location tubing locations. once painted, will resemble scale look. still have fuselage, stab, vertical, elevators and ailerons to tape. once perimeter tape comes, can finalize wing panels. pinked tapes are Solartex white. very simple to iron on. just a matter of keeping straight lines.

spent some tinkering time here and there picking away at the project. added detail screws to cowl and several coats of primer to build panel lines. pulled away chart tape. looking semi-scale. glassed simulated door skin with 3/4 oz cloth. will sand smooth to represent sheetmetal. worked some more on pinked tape. got elevators done, vertical fin done and right side stab done. need to do ailerons, left stab and finish fuselage. tedious work these days.
