Mini-Review

Diatone R349 pocket rocket!!!

Back from holiday and go some lovely weather for flying yesterday so went up to the park to give this R349 a go, a bit tentative flying because I'm not so used to this yet but once I do ....
Quick review, this is fast and fun and cheap, needed props changing from the 3028 to 3042 or 3052 and a bit of a tune up to fly how I like it, great on 3s or 4s, has good camera and is well under the 250g weight with batteries , flight time of 3 to 5 minutes depending on which battery I used.
More detailed review and pids to follow.

Diatone R349 bench review.....is it any good?... Yes! (14 min 31 sec)

3052 props seem best I decided.
R349 3052 props on 4s 650mah turnigy graphene panther. At the park (5 min 16 sec)

Bellow is on 3040. Not much in it really, both are good.
Diatone R329 first flight at the park 3s 850mah lipo (8 min 0 sec)

Diatone R329 first flight at the park 4s 650mah turnigy graphene panther lipo. (4 min 44 sec)

And to compare with my silverware micro brushless whoop build I flew this in same session.
Silverised brushless beta85x frame fpv flight at the park. (5 min 43 sec)

Pros and cons

Pros
Fast and cheap
Nice components
Strong looking frame

Cons
Wasn't tuned well for the supplied 3028 props

Conclusion
It's well worth the money, very fast and flies well once tuned, I suspect going to betaflight 4.0 will make it even better.
Changing props is a must.

Who is it for?

Well it is NOT a beginner quad that's for sure, maybe ok a second or third quad depending on what you have flown before,
I would say it's intermediate to advanced , it's fast enough to keep anyone happy and if like me you don't want to go over the 250g weight limit at which registration is required it's ideal.
Whether you want to race or freestyle I think this would work.

After some recommendations from other r349 flyers I got some gemfan 3052 from xt-xinte
https://m.xt-xinte.com/Gemfan-10-Pai...r-p553936.html
And flew them today in the park, defo seemed smoother and plenty of power and still flight times of 4 minutes so I'm going to stick with those now and tune it some more..
$5.70 ( plus postage ) for 10 pairs was money well spent and I now have a ton of props for this thing so won't be worried about breaking them...

This thing is FAST and makes the park feel a bit small lol...

I tried the turnigy graphene 500mah 3s today on the 3052 props.
Seems to have good power and nice handling being lighter , flight times aren't tooooo bad if I don't go crazy ojnthe throttle and just cruise fast with some punches , I got 3:40 minutes to 3.68v per cell but expect a LOT less if I give it more throttle..
I will get some DVR at the park with them later on anyway and link it from here.
Just waiting for some better weather ( getting almost constant rain here in the UK this last couple of weeks and it's not looking like changing.

How are you finding the 650 4S panther lipos?
I have a R349 on it's way to me so deciding on batteries.
What pids did you settle on with the 3052 Gemfans?

Cheers

Love the panther lipos, I've tried some 500mah 3s turnigy graphene as well now which gavennice handling being light and I do don't use too much throttle still get 3 mins out of them....just.
For pure power ( I think that is what this quad is about ) the turnigy panther 4s wins though.
My pids are not perfect at all, still needs work but the rain has not stopped for weeks so can't get out and tune ,
Having said that they are ok, basically they are the stock settings from profile 1 and increased by about 20 to 30% , this is quite high but good for UK winds....
I would recommend starting with the pid 1 profile and just increasing p etc. Until it behaves as you want, pids are actually quite a personal thing I find.

Got some video yesterday as rain stopped for a while lol.
The 3052 props are nice and I think they come as standard now with this r349.

And I also tried some old 500mah packs.
