Wow, nice plane! The construction article in RCM gives the impression that it will stay up all day.

I've flown gliders on only a few occasions. About 25 years ago I had a friend who flew a Gentle Lady. He used to launch it with a Cox 049 on a power pod. That plane was a lot of fun. I built a 2x4 glider about 15 years ago and shot it off a High Start a few times. It was a really good day of flying, but somehow it didn't form a habit. That's right, just one day. A guy offered to buy it from me, so I sold it! I've been thinking for a long time that I need to get into gliders again.

Flying gliders has helped me become a better powered pilot. It helps you learn energy management, plus itís a fun challenge to find thermals and a rush when you find one and then have to work to get the glider to come down.

Here it is, all put together. The glue holding the windshield is still a little bit white. It's not going to fly until that dries completely.

The head rest makes a good looking plane look even better.

I thought I had finished everything. You guys don't want me to fly this plane, do you?

I think it needs a dancing hula girl as a logo for the fin.

Multi-color, too.

I could kill two birds with one stone and put the hula girl in the cockpit.

Now that the plane is ready for its first flight the weather has been windy, and now rainy. I'll get a flight on it before too long.

Finished weight ready to fly, without fuel, is 3 pounds 11 ounces. Wing loading is 20.3 oz per square foot. That's not too bad for a high powered aerobatic model this size.

The runway used to be longer

I'm working on getting some of the guys in our club to do a group short-kit build.
The 'Miss Bikini' ended up being the plane of choice.
It's still early days but before 2020 rolls around I hope to be putting in a request for 5-10 short kits. It would have been 6-11 but one of our guys has 70 years of building experience and will be cutting his own parts with a knife, or was it an adze?
