Bill Winter's Fiat G.50, 200%

JeffMac posted this interesting plan a few years ago here:

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...-June-1940-MAN

It's the Fiat G.50 by Bill Winter, published in MAN in 1940. This build will be double size, for electric R/C. I'll mostly follow the original plans, with a few mods for practicality....ailerons, removable wing, and all-sheet tail surfaces.

Thanks, Rabid. Working on the wing center section today.

Target weight is 1 1/2 pounds, power will be about 100-150 watts. Will use three/four channels of RC....elevator, ailerons and throttle. Might also include rudder and movable tail wheel.

Thanks, Jeff. Wing will be built in three sections. Center section will hold the landing gear and wing joiners. Haven't settled on spars yet, but likely 1/8 in square spruce top and bottom spars with vertical grain balsa shear webbing.

Went back a few posts to look at the fuselage pics again (after enlarging).
Great workmanship, sir!

For what it's worth, Pat Daily's remake of Winter's Fiat starts on page 55 of the February, 1980 Model Aviation.

Trisquire, thanks for that great article. As it happens, I'm also building the 24 inch rubber powered version, but hadn't started a build log yet. All I have so far is fuselage formers and some jigs for lamination of the wing and tail. The Pat Daily article will help a lot. And I'll need help as this will be my first rubber free flight project in many years.
