These are a few of my favorite FMS planes

Well, it was suggested by fprintf, and I'm doing it, a picture collage of screen captures of my fave FMS models, some that I've made and others as well This is my recent Sopwith Pup which is a LARGE model at 98" and modeled as an electric. I hope I encourage others to show their favorites.

Here are some more, starting with a Gloster javelin from an un-named creator in Germany from Version7 that I've done a version 8 convert on, I'd like to get this creator';s email if someone knows him, as the MQO would be nice to mod for landing gear.

The second one is this nice Lancaster from James Grieve that I've added open LG doors and landing gear to. It just didn't look right taxiing around on its belly.

And this is Boomerace's 8 IPS motored Slow Stick modelled from his online conversion from about a year back. I've even bothered to model the motors in the .PAR file just to see if it would work. And yes, it did, the same holds true for the Javelin and the Lanc', they've both got "working" multi motor PARs in their modelling.

Cheers

Here's my "what if" scale model of a Morane Saulnier "L" that I've made as a bipe. It's modelled as a large electric also.

And, some more...

This is a classic, from vers.6 IIRC, the ME262 from Michael Moeller. One of the two brothers who brought us FMS. I've remodded this into a nice EDF for Vers.8

And a beautiful Tupolev 154 airliner from another mystery modeller, this is a nice flyer also.

And a Vought 143 export fighter, which has an interesting history of being the prototype used for the design for both the Mitsubishi Zero and the Vought Corsair. This is one of my models.

Do you have the Sopwith Pup available as a file for downloading?
I would love to have one if you do.
Thanks.

Zipper, there are two pretty good tutorials on how to make planes for FMS using Metasequoia. It's not really that hard if you follow the instructions. Metasequoia is a free CAD program that can be downloaded.

Hi D Zipper,

Here's an image from my Austin Tripe I'm modelling in Metasequoia. The program takes a bit of practice but the various techniques aren't hard to master.

OK, here's some more

To give credit where credit is due, the Slow Stik models are from a heavily remodded Lite Stick that Shinichiro Nishiya did back in '01 or '02 when he was doing all of his "lite" series models. And this is Boomerace's Slow Stik Bipe that I made earlier last year. Wayne, (AKA Basketcase) did help a small amount with this as I borrowed his excellent rendering of a GWS EPS 300 drive he did from one of his Switchback models.

On to one of Shinichiro's most unique versions of his "litemoth" series, the MothQK. I have to admit that trying to model this .PAR as exactly as the MQO amd .X files were drawn up was a challenge. This is probably the only way this model will fly as it flatly refused to commit proper virtual flight when set up with the tandem wings and all. But when I modded this I was still mucking about trying to understand the dynamics of the various effects of "EY", "EX" and "Polar" on wing dynamics in FMS. It does "fly" now but I'm not happy with it yet

And another artist who continues to impress me is Logic_Wizard. I've modded his C130 as you can see here, and his DC-9. His models were early examples of how to make truely convincing virtual models with a minimum of faces and vectors. His contribution to the FMS scene has, IMHO, set the bar for those of us who dabble in it. He also does the best .WAV files for his models, the turboprop and fanjet being some of the best.

Well untill I can find someone or where that can host my files, it's going to be a wait. As fprintf's supposed place to host these files sent me a nasty Email about how my files contained, either pornographic, racist or discriminatory content, and would not host them,... so I'm still looking...

As far as the other files I've modded, I should get permmision first from the original authors before offering them. That, and the reason I started this thread was to provide a showcase for other's favorites from the skies of FMS.

Here's the finished Austin Tripe, which I had finished as an actual 28" ws model earlier this year, only to have a tree thoroughly eat it.

I just signed up for ADSL and got 250MB of hosting space thrown in that I have no immediate use for. PM me and I'd be happy to host your FMS models

Ok, I've uploaded my files to both fprintf's homepage and Cliff's homepage so you can download these to your hearts content. Please, no more requests from my end through Email, as my dail-up connection is very slow.
