Small update.
Working on the placement of the electronics. Still have to build a foward platform for the receiver, switching device, ETC. The smoker will be on another platform farther aft. Plan to open up the engine room skylights for ventilation. There will likely be another vent in the aft superstructure in the gap/pass through between the foward superstructure. The ESCs deck has room below for a sound card to be added later. Time to get out the soldering iron.

Thanks Tim. There is a lot of work into not much to show. But I enjoy this part, so I take my time. Put the superstructure in place now she's starting to look like her namesake.

Gravman you have nothing fear from me. Maybe your neighbors from NASA might give both of us a shrug or two, but hey our stuff only has to navigate around a turtle of two. I will explain the layout later, but right now there are boiled mudbugs waiting to be eaten and I plan not to disappoint

I know I'll never make this a museum accurate model, but there are a few visual items I have to address. One I've been dreading for a while - correcting the bulwark on the bow. The Imara/Perseverance had a much longer raised bow section. But looking at the photos of the Marie Felling it appears much shorter. So the dreaded cutting starts. I don't have actual measurements, so I cut away what didn't look right. Like the Imara, the Marie Felling had an opening at the stern. The hole is more square than the picture makes it look. There is a frame to cover any minor errors. I already covered the deck with 030 styrene and I added 020 to the inside of the bulwarks. I plan to add rivets if the hot Louisianna "Spring/Summer" allows me to work in the shop for more than a few hours a day - there is only so much a little A/C can do

Thanks Tim.
Just a heads up for anyone working with this hull don't assume any panel, rivet line, or section is symmetrical. Best to measure from known points of reference. The port and starboard curved sections of the bulwarks were off by several millimeters. |
