Indoor plane from BladeRunner parts.

I did not buy BladeRunner until after Christmas because I thought it is another flying toy that never flies. Even finally the ever growing thread in this forum persuades me to take the plunge I was not too sure. So I justify my expenditure of $80 for a toy thinking I will make a 3ch proportional indoor plane from its components after its demise (few days I thought).

Now after 4 weeks later BR is proved to be the best toy I ever had and best $80 bucks I ever spend. Also I have learned to repair motors and make rotors; I know I can fly it as long as I want to. So I decided to publish the sketch of BR plane I never made for the benefit of some one not so fortunate and has BR parts. Thais may not be a workable idea I donít know because I never got to test it. Anyway here it is.

If you have more ideas or already made any planes from BR parts please post here. Thanks.

I believe it would be better to use the tail motor to control an elevator or replace the tail motor with a magnetic actuator driving an elevator.

There are some differentially controlled wings pictured on the AERONUTZ site.

A perfect application for the BR electronics.

I started developing my basic idea to workable model. Since I love my BR I wanted to make a plane from it without destroying it so I can revert back to original BR. This is the simple solution I come up with. Added weights are the weight of wings, tail fins and new landing gear. BRís two powerful N20 should be able to carry them easily. May be I might be able to shed weight by using M20s? Counter rotating props (size?) should give a perfect setup.

i have a couple of motors a bit smaller than the br's that came out of a firefly knock-off... would these work, and what should the wing surfaces be made of?

I was waiting for my BR to fail but it is going strong as ever. I donít have a heart to put it down. Sorry to hear about your BR but happy you have decided to do this.

BR original motors are way too powerful for a plane so you can use little smaller motors as long as they are low voltage. My BR without rotors and shaft weigh 1oz.
Measure total weight with your motors. Wing loading less than 3 oz/sq.ft is good.
2mm or 3mm Depron is the best material for wing I thank. If you donít have one buy a 2mm or 3mm foam board from Walmart and remove paper backing.

How about a V-22 osprey using not only bladerunner parts, but bladerunner rotors? That'd be pretty kickin' rad!

I just discovered this thread https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228235
If that can be done with BR parts

The BR tail rotor might actually finally fix the gyroscopic pitch problems, too

You guys should check out the neat-o plane they have in the v-22 thread. Might work with the Bladerunner guts.

Thanks, Works well on test stand. When suspended from CG, swing about 30 deg. up or down with full stick. Should do well I suppose during flight. Too windy outside and all indoor gyms occupied. Micro building is really frustrating. Had to wait days to test fly models sometimes!
