Spirit guy here as well. Switched over from Bavarian Demon when they discontinued BD3SX.

This was kind f already said but the Spirit Pro has two Sat ports while the Spirit has one Sat port. Whether that matters depends how you plan to do your receiver. If you post what TX you have and what RX you are planning to use, we can comment more.

If you are on Spektrum, a lot of guys use two Sats but if you ever want to buy a geolink gps, that uses up one Sat port. They do have a cable to connect sats into the main connectors though, so that is an option. You can also use the spm4649T. My choice would be an AR8010T and use its SRXL output to the Spirit, but the AR8010T is a little big for a small model. If you are not on Spektrum, then of course none of that applies.

The only thing I would have added is a suggestion to order the Wifi interface. All Spirit versions come with a cable for PC connection so you don't need to buy anything extra (like some other brands) but the Wifi interface is really slick. It allows you to use the phone app which is very nice also. You can always order the wifi separately but then the shipping costs like $5 and it takes a couple of weeks. With Spirit, it is best to order all the bits and pieces with the main unit. Then they arrive fast and shipping is free. They have a blue tooth interface also but the wifi one has more options. You can do setup with a browser and you don't even have to load the software. Its built into the wifi interface.

Hello

I have the regular spirit on its way. This is the receiver that I have coming:

Is that receiver going to work?

I don't know what a geolink is, so I'll need to do some homework there.

That receiver will work just fine.

I started buying used Spirit FBL's myself just before the Geolink came out and their popularity increased. It's a feature packed unit and quite easy to set up. The Geolink is a module that adds GPS giving you things like altitude hold, return to home, automatic landing, geofencing, etc etc. I have one of those too still sitting in it's box. Most of my helis were bought used with older FBL units and I have quite the variety I need to replace with a single brand.

Like BrokeDad said it will work and on a smaller model like an Oxy3 it is probably sufficient. The common wisdom, though on larger models is to have at least two receivers or at least two antennas place at 90 degrees to each other.

So with a regular Spirit, it just has the one Sat port. This cable
https://store.spirit-system.com/en/a...rum-multi.html
would let you add up to two more Sats.

Probably a better choice would be the spm4649T because it at least has two antennas and you can still use your Sat plugged into the Spirit.
4649T binds like a Sat. You would need this cable too:
https://store.spirit-system.com/en/a...ion-cable.html
or it is pretty easy to make. It just splits off the orange wire on a second plug.

If JR has an RX with SRXL output, that would be another possibility.

I have a Geolink and it does do some amazing stuff but it is not really needed. Rescue is pretty much enough for me but sometimes the Return to Home feature can come in handy if you model gets too far away and you can't see which way it is going.

^^^ This. The SPM4649T is by far the best Spektrum receiver to use with a Spirit or Brain FBL because (in addition to it's dual antenna diversity) it is the only receiver that will give you telemetry and transmitter integration.

Wow. You guys are fantastic!

I will be so delighted to get the lil bugger hooked up to my laptop and start setting it up. Nice to know that the receiver that I bought will work.
