Cox Pee Wee .020

I have a couple of .020 engines. Any good RC designs for these engines?

has anyone tried the SIG/Herr Breezy Day Cub kit. It looks like the perfect size and it's a nice laser cut kit. https://sigmfg.com/collections/herr-...day-park-flyer

Herr kits are very well engineered and its should be doable! Most Cox Pee Wee powered planes I built (non scale) were around 30" or less span and very lively. It should be a lot lighter glow powered than the original 280/NiCad version. And the price is right

Did you see their 48" span 328 sq in 1/2A Cub?
Geez that one would crawl with a .049 any amount of wind would be tough to keep it moving along.
They did say .8cc to 1cc even still this is very little power. NV .074 would be the least amount of engine
I would go with.

What RC batteries are you guys using? I don't find any small NiCad packs like I used in the old days.

Most guys nowadays use LiFe and LiPo. I'm one of the old fashioned guys who still uses NiMH, mostly because I don't want to buy a fancy charger. You can get small nickel receiver packs on ebay and from some battery vendors. I have a small one, about 300 or 400 mAh that I'm planning to put in a Cox 020 powered Pipsqueak. I bought it from https://www.maxxpacks.com/index.php

I thought about LiPo but all the small servos are only good for 5v. Using a voltage regulator is extra weight especially on a .020 powered airplane.

I just buy some small NiCad or NiMh cells and make my own packs.

How much flying time are guys getting out of those packs?

Depends on your servo count / size and style of flying / fuel tank capacity.
Also depends on how well you set up your servos minimum bind, short servo
arms are the way to go.

9 to 11g servos:
Expect at least 4 acro flights at 6 mins a pop, or 5 flights of mild sport flying.

2.5g to 5g would yield the same with the 150 mah and a TD .010 to .020

The tiny servos don't draw much current, so 300 mAh should be good enough for several flights. Back in the dinosaur days everybody used to charge their nicads overnight, then fly the next day until they were sick of it. I don't remember anybody worrying. Some guys used to have volt meters (I still have mine) but I generally avoid problems by taking multiple airplanes out.
