Why does life keep trying to take me out? I just want to fly! (General Rant)

So, I had a hip replaced back in October. That went as well as anyone could hope. Last Wednesday, I picked up a nasty head cold. One sick day from work and then I was able to work from home Thursday. Friday I get in work and IMMEDIATELY get a call from my son's school because he was sick. He had been out sick since Monday (and the one who got me sick). He really wanted to get back to school because the work was piling up, but the nurse said he needed more rest. I agreed. I work from home again because driving back will just waste more time. After work, I do get in a flight with our new RA Cores Extra in a pretty heavy breeze. I decided one battery was enough and not risk it because my son needs to fly it before it gets damaged. He did write both our names on it when we finished putting it together . Friday night, my hip I had the replacement on feels a little stiff. Saturday morning, now it's my ankle and knee too. I go to a party to watch a band for an hour around 3 PM, but don't drink or eat anything because I feel off. Sunday, I wake up barely able to walk because of the pain. . I take medicine prescribed for the swelling and pain, sit in my recliner, sleep a lot, and watch a perfect day for flying pass me by. Real Flight did help once I found models for two new planes I have for the spring. Monday is no better. I take a personal day at work because they were pretty generous the week before. I call the doc and get different pills because the ones I am taking did not work. I have my daughter stay home (HS senior) to help me out because I seriously can't walk, sleep a lot, and watch another flying day go by. It does not help that I can see a flag across the street from my recliner lying limp in the sun. It also does not help I have an E-Flite Slick 3D 1/2 built on a table next to the TV with an EF 48" Edge in the box waiting to be assembled next to it. I wouldn't work on them anyways. I learned long ago working on something when not feeling 100% can cause issues like flight controllers getting set up wrong...or installed backward . Tuesday, I make it into work with a cane. I feel a little sick from the pills, but I can walk! Well, limp. Tuesday night around bedtime, the side effects get to the point where I'm just hanging out in the bathroom until 4 AM fighting off dehydration, nausea, and other very, very bad symptoms at the same time. , again. At least I didn't need the cane anymore. I start considering a trip to the hospital when I finally fall asleep around 4:30 AM. I wake up a few hours later, text my boss, and work from home Wednesday. Surprisingly, I do not nod off. It must have been all the sleep on Sunday and Monday. When I log off work, I feel great. No cane. No side effects. I throw laundry in the drier and the belt pops off the motor. It was sort of expected because last time I put a belt on the tensioner wheel was pretty worn. But still, the timing. ! I spent 30 minutes NOT FLYING and putting the belt back on hoping to get in a few more loads done while I'm waiting for a replacement tension wheel. It lasted for 8 minutes. I go to order a new wheel and...the internet is down. I look at my son and he swears it was just working. Again, its the timing. Again, . I make my way to the basement and reboot the modem and router and get back upstairs just in time to see the sunset. I spend a little time making sure I'm ordering the right part and then just sit for a while with my son, who twisted an ankle at track practice. We stare at the TV quietly until bedtime. This morning, traffic on I81 was stopped dead and I was 10 minutes late to work. Luckily, so was everyone else because you can't get to my office without taking I81. So now I'm sitting here wondering if I try and fly a plane tonight, what will happen? I think I am going to take the dryer apart instead and get the wheel out so I can just pop the new one in tomorrow. If today and tomorrow go OK then tomorrow night the Night Extra 300 or Night Visionaire or going to the park with me for some non-simulated flying. Rant over. I feel a little better, except I just realized I order the wrong part for the dryer. I need the other wheel.
