"Thunder" experimental wing build thread

i have been working on a 10" wing called a "thunder" so far i have 2 5 gram servos, a hacker b20 brushless motor and controller (for serious power!) 4 channel reciever, foam wing core (i hand cut it and it's exactely perfect) all i'm missing is the lipoly. once the digital camera finishes charging i will post pics, thanks, ryan

Now, this is where i ask myself:

How small is too small and how much power is too much power?

10" wingspan and a hacker b20....not sure man. Don't you think it'll rip that tiny little piece of foam completely apart?

You will also have a hell of a time balancing that tiny wing without going overboard with the weight.

Good luck though and I'm looking forward to the pictures.

yeah, the lipoly is gonna be way up in the front with all of the other electronics, it only weighs like 65 grams with everything except the lipoly. not exactely, cause i'm gonna cover it in ultracote and when i cover it it'll be strong. i'm thinking that i need a lot of power to hall it around with a big prop, thx, ryan

with the prop around 1/3 - 1/2 of your wing span, you will have a huge torque roll at low speeds!!!!!

my $0.05

Mum is the word!

Tooooo small

Ryan you dont have enough wing span it will be a flying motor mount. You need 20 plus inches little man if you want any stability.

Striving to Rip the Bring

Which hacker is it? the 15L I have found pushed my unicorn fast at a 42" span. If it is one of the "L" series a 20" wing will be even more overpowered than chris's blaster! If you can handle it it will fly, but will not slow down well and be generally difficuly.

However, 20" would be a perfect match for the "S" series.

Maybe even 30" would be a better choice for the "L" series? it will probably still go more than 70 or 80 at that span.

Sounds like it is gonna be ALOT of fun!
