cen aqua jet motor flex coupler


if upgrading form a cen 550 to 700bb 8.4v(5mm motor shaft) do i need to up grade the Flex Coupler??

Yep!

An alternative would be to have it machined to accept the 5mm 700motor shaft, the trouble is, the hole for the grub-screw will probably make the hole whobble.
If you don't have access to a lathe, and have to pay for the machine-time in a machine shop, it's probably cheaper, to get a new one, that fits.

Order it with your motor.

Because of the steep angle of the motor. The flex coupler is a better choice because it pushes the motor back allowing a much smoother angle between the drive shaft and motor shaft. We have them custom made for us. Or you may find it easier to buy the graupner one in Australia. The graupner one will quickly fail but can easily be fixed by adding a couple of set screws to hold the flex shaft.
