Thanks for the details, EDF has come a long way since the GWS days!
I like the 7000kv QX fan, and am using it in my second build currently. Still good use for the GWS EDF30, if they could be found. The UMX fan is similar. With them, you can have a 24" sheeted fuse aircraft at 106 grams AUW. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...ht-Video/page3

This seemed like an easy build so I gave it a try. 30mm 7000kv edf, 850mah 3s, emax 9051 4.3g servos, little bee 20a esc with a little bed, old dsm2 Hobbymate receiver. I hollowed out the nose and covered the holes with tissue for weight reduction. I'm at 210g. The first flight was ok but touchy with the battery all the way forward in the slot, so I added a broken piece of prop (was all I had) to the nose with tape. Second flight is what you see here, just about perfect. I think I may rework the fuse pattern for a tractor in the future, that's for another time.

Super Pinto

i was at an airshow in ~'73 when a Super Pinto was up for flight. Going down the runway, this was and is the LOUDEST airplane I have ever had the pain to hear!!! Its just a Pinto with a J-85, but wow! Bring muffs if you ever go to see one.

Thanks Thomas. I am pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of this plane and power combo. I just need a bit of paint on it to set it off.
