That's because you haven't dulled the blades with the heads of a few dozen dragonflies like my "Dragon Slayer" has.

On my ToolDo list has been the LCD Helicopter Tachometer .... both Turnigy and FRSky have made them and are on worldwide back order or unavailability for 2 years now at least. I really want to know the RPM myself. Some day I will find one.

I don't see how they can get the same performance from a phone as one of these.

or SKYRC ..... not FRSKY

the phone uses the microphone to listen to it, the LCD tach use a microphone to listen to it... remember a smart phone is a computer... the tach has to have a computer. I tried it on my old phone and never got it again for my new one, but if memory serves it worked within a few hundred rpms.

Make a recording of your heli and run it through Audacity. com
Free download. I have used it for years dynamic balancing.

I use a €9.00 version of this :-

works fine either propped up on the ground hovering above or from above with the model 'just light on the skids'.

Why spend money to learn headspeed?

Easy Peasy. You can make a sound recording. You can share the recording with anyone else to analyze You can download Audacity.com for free. You can analyze the heck out of the heli's soundwaves from any part of the flight : tail rpm, main rpm. Max and min rpm if you can stay close enough for the mic to pick it up. Similarly I use Audacity with a transducer (old earbud taped to the heli) to see spikes at either rpm for balancing as per https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...ctral-analysis
It is really cool to get everything balanced, even nanos.

My iPhone is on a different list ..... the It's been a good 5 year run, but Apple is stopping OS updates and I Must replace this year list.

Besides, my iPhone will never ever be on my ToolDo list!

It's barely "smart" enough for the ReplaceMe list.

@Dave - That is very cool!

Maybe you should do an article about it?

@SilverSport - You don't have to buy a new iPhone just because Apple are not upgrading the iOS for it anymore. Of course that is exactly what they want you to do!

I still have my old iPhone4 and have stuck with iOS6. If I went to iOS8 (highest for that phone I believe) it would slow it down and then I would be unhappy with it and want to upgrade. Of course that is exactly what they want me to do! No, stuff 'em! The phone works fine. Why "upgrade" it and cripple it?

My iPad Air is still running iOS10. I won't upgrade as iOS11 is the first 64 bit OS and literally only a quarter of my apps can be upgraded to it so again, No! Stuff 'em! It wouldn't be an "upgrade" at all, it would be a downgrade.

I hear ya .... I still have the 3G which I used for 4 years before getting the 4S, which I also used for 4 years .... it got slow, I could not get any new apps towards the end, so I got the 6, and @ 5 years Apple has disappointed me with that name, I feel I will be much further disappointed with the 10 .... as I see no way of that one working for 10 years!

Really, I did not upgrade the 6 OS for some time and had to do so to get many of my apps working again after IOS 12 came out - including the one that was used to call people. So there went 50% of my apps .... some of which I could not find a replacement for ... same happened with the 4S though.

I have an android pad, it works great, but Though I have never done and OS update on it with many attempts, it still says it is up to date ... after 4 years. I don't know what fruit candy OS it is, but I would think some sort of update would be out there for it. Such must be the oblivious nature of the Android populous that the OS upgrade is a new device! I guess I am stuck with the overpriced iPhone.

If you plan to get one, make sure you get the one that supports higher RPM 5000+ on a heli.

Tattu 220 45c battery

I just got my batteries today. I charged 3 of them and went to fly last evening. They barely will get the s2 off the ground. I used the usb charger that came with the heli. Is that my problem ? My Hitec x2 700 won't charge 1 cell batteries.

I can get big 300mAh HV's off the ground with no problem so it isn't the weight.
