Esprit Brushless Motors Elite HD Outrunners

Elite series motors from Esprit are the culmination of years spent designing and testing in extreme environments. Motors feature hardened steel shafts, built in fans, and a large radial bearing designed to carry the load placed on the open end of the rotor. Jeti telemetry sensors are also mounted in the motors to measure voltage and temperature. These features, combined with an easy to maintain and repair design, promise years of worry free use.

I really doubt the 94% efficiency claim.

Based on the specs, which could be wrong, the 30cc motor reaches peak efficiency of 88% at 27 amps when running on 12s. At 60 amps, the motor is about 84% efficient (I started to do the numbers on paper but instead just pumped the numbers into ecalc).

I'm sure they are good motors, but very few hobby motors have approached 93% efficiency, let alone 94%. Honestly, it is very hard to achieve 90% efficiency, and when you do it is usually with an inrunner with a gearbox- impracticable for most applications except some gliders and pattern planes.

Different perceptions for different people - my first thought was those are relatively high Kvs for large motors. I guess Esprit is targeting more 10S and/or 12S with slightly smaller props.

The Hacker A60M and A60L range spans the 30cc - 50cc Esprit sizes, but the Kv choices available are substantially lower, eg the 910g A60L has 192, 168 and 149 rpm/V options, while the A60M @ 760g has 215, 190 and 170 rpm/V options.

I see Esprit also has an Elite Super HD range that appears to compete with the larger sizes Hacker Q series. A wealth of options for big electric systems

There are high end motors reaching above 90% . Its not so rare. Almost all the Lehner and Neu motors do. Scorpion is no leader in outrunners nor is AXI. but by itself a peak rating of efficiency isn't really telling you anything about the motor through its paces. A motor could have less peak efficiency but have better efficiency through ought the entire range of operational points of load. Best to select the motor that works best for you in your application. Controller settings and batteries play a part. When the input current doesn't match the output current you will introduce ripple and that can kill efficiency in any motor. Id be more concerned with what its efficiency is where I want to use it.

look at the attachment and note the efficiency differences at different points of operation for two different style windings. These "efficiency" 1 liners are mainly for selling purposes not real analysis of the motors quality. They only suggest the highest peak they've seen in their test.

That graph is soo small I can't read it.
So what brand motors is efficient?
I use$40 COBRA motors (buddyRC) on FPV 20mile runs...
i didn't know there are motors that are 90% more efficient
