Earlier this month an elderly man in Brownsville, TX went missing. Firefighters and Police teamed up to start searching for the man around 8:38PM. The search area had 4ft tall grass making it difficult if not impossible to find the man by ground search. They deployed a drone with a thermal camera and around 11:11PM they located the man sitting in the tall grass. They were able to direct rescue crews to the location and take him to the hospital where he recovered in a stable condition.
It is so great to hear stories like this in light of the negative press about drones lately. The fact is, drones are here to stay and will only become more relied upon for good uses just like this. Check out the video of the rescue below.

I saw a video last night recorded last year when the Hawaii volcano was erupting. From a drone that had spotted a guy that got disorientated to where he was. He used his phone to flash sos and was seen buy the drone pilot (university student doing work for the USGS). Lava was about 100' from him and they got him out in time. Thought this was cool and never or seen that till last night.
