Used a Blade 250s tail motor and tri-blade on one of my copterx250. I have the Tail "P" at 82 and "I" at 35. The tail holds very well. However, I have tail bounce( could possibly be described as a wag) when I stop, in both directions. I've tried "stop gain" and it has no affect. What parameter do I adjust to deal with this? Thanks.

I'm no expert as haven't been back to my 250 to go further but I found better results with these settings in the Advance Tail Rotor settings. My last flight prior to parking it badly (power loss) were with Accelleration increased to 60, P=80, I=25, StopA=70, StopB=20. Torque Precomp Collective=20, Cyclic=7, Control Loop Left=75, Right=30.
I had tried a number of suggested settings which were just awful (some seem to have Stop settings around the other way). Whatever you do try handholding first to test before flying. It may be that different mechanical setups require completely different configurations . |

'Stop gain A' is for stops from CW piro if the main rotor is rotating CW. With a motorized tail the motor should (almost) stop then. Since applying gain on stopping a motor doesn't makes much sense, you can always use 0 for 'Stop gain A' .
In some cases I could solve wag after a CCW piro by reducing 'Stop gain B' or increasing the Differential value. If you choose 'Microheli mode' the differential value is set to 25 instead of 0. This might help. If you want full control over Differential, you need to connect a bluetooth UART to the VBAR/KBAR and use the android app to set Differential. |

True however you can also argue that stopping a CW piro requires the most dramatic Flight Controller action as there is no tail thrust available to arrest the piro, hence a high value may accentuate the FC response. Conversely a low figure for CCW stop is because you have full tail motor thrust available. Just saying that was my best tuning flight, and the caveat is very much "suck it and see"!

Thanks. Now It flies
I bought this copterx FBL 250 years ago. When I picked up the hobby again, after over 3 years, I assembled it. it has some Align parts that I had spared for my actual trex 250 and now a Tarot FBL head. The tail was still belt and was giving me issue after issue. Stripping two belts, blade grip kept loosening and causing vibes. Then finally a bolt snapped off in the grip. I then put it on the shelf (To use for spare parts) until I came across this thread a few weeks ago. Now my virtually obsolete 250 is airworthy again.
Now to my virtually obsolete XK K120. Just need to source a tail motor. |

I've tried several motors for the K120 tail: Racestar BR1103B 8000KV, Flywoo NIN 1103 7650KV, Skystars 1103 Pro/Racing Edition 11000KV. They all worked, but I really like the Skystars: it has plenty of power and the bell is very light and reacts fast. I also use this motor on a K130, see post 2507 in the K130 thread.

I find it tail motor has low I gain.. You can try lower "I" gain and higher main gain. I suggest I gain 18~20 Do not use stop gain.. you set 0-0 first .. and find gain pid.. after than .. set stop gain 0-127 or 127-0 left ruder - stop is 0 ( if you want more stop gain .. you had better up PID ) right ruder - stop is 127 ( you can not get firm stop on right ruder-stop ... that is deficient point on tail motor helicopter) |

230s v2 mini vbar motors will not arm
Does anyone know if the esc on the 230s v2 is some how made exactly for the ar636b receiver in it? I replaced it with a mini v-bar and spektrum satellite reciever because I had to change servos and I can't seem to get it to power the vbar up. When I use a secondary battery I can get power to everything but still can't get the motors to arm. They beep how they're supposed to when the main battery is plugged up but no juice. All cyclic servos work as well as the stabilization in the vbar itself but no power to the main or tail motors. Vstabi worked how it was supposed to also. Maybe the stock ar636b receiver sends a some kind of different signal to the stock esc that allows it to arm? Idk but I am stumped
Edit: I know this post isn't about 230s but I figured it belonged here being it's a tail motor heli. Just trying to figure out if I can get this esc to work if not I'll either change it to belt driven or see if I can get another esc or try dual ESCs one for each motor. |

there is no separate wire for a special signal, but if the throttle isn't zeroed it won't power up on most helis. it is possible that it is looking for the opposite direction on the throttle. I would take the main and tail rotors off and try reversing the channel (1 or 3 depending on transmitter, spekky is 1, opentx transmitter is 3) also be sure the lead for the tail side is plugged into the signal port, if it's on the ground it will likely not initialize either.
