DJI has a new smart controller that works with OcuSyn 2.0 drones like the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom. It will also work with any future OcuSync 2.0 aircraft from DJI. The controller looks like a Mavic controller in some ways, but now it has a 5.5" screen built right in that is bright and easy to see. This means you no longer has to fiddle with getting your phone or tablet connected.
It has pre-installed functions like SkyTalk and the DJI Go 4 App of course. It doesn't look like the most comfortable controller ergonomically, but it will be nice to have that big screen showing the image from your drone. Battery life is said to be 2.5 hours which isn't that long, but should be enough for most outings. The DJI Smart Controller is currently out of stock, but sells for $649.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly
The "good" things about this new controller:
DJI Smart Controller First Look & Hands-on - Unboxing, Overview and Feature Review (25 min 2 sec) A screen brightness of 1000 NITS .... comparable to the smaller DJI CS monitors but still only 1/2 the brightness of the 2000 NITS DJI ultra-bright CS monitors. The "bad" things about this new controller: $650 Price tag The really "ugly" things about this new controller: Can NOT use this new controller with any version of the original Mavic Pro's. ...requires buying yet "ANOTHER" DJI multi-rotor that uses the newer Occusync 2.0 DJI transmission technology. |

I got my 1200nits (8") monitor used on eBay
(12v input) for $100. They are used products from police cars, and my other 1200nits (12") monitor is used from marine boating usage ($200). These are over $1k new. I use them as backup GS monitors In case my Fatsharks goes kaput. The prices are coming down, I think $600 is a fair price for these New DJI R/C controllers. There's a commercial guy here "azjeg" that makes similar monitor/Controllers for well over $1k-2k. It sux though bc you can't use these DJI controllers for our FPVairplanes.... |

Judging by factors like: smoothness, responsiveness, receiving of updates and reliability of my P4 Pro V2+ Controller, especially when compared to a transmitter connected to an iOS device, I would NOT recommend any DJI remote controller running a build screen on Android.

Hahahajaja. I don't agree..but what sux is that one can only use this controller with one Specific quad (Magic v2)...that prevents many from buying it. It has to work with DJI Air Module, but I read it doesn't....sooo odd |
