Velkom DC-3
There was an earlier post asking if anyone had built/flown the Velkom DC-3 or BF110. All the responses were about the BF110! So...has anyone built and flown the DC-3? I've had the Velkom DC-3 kit since 1997 but other projects have gotten in the way. Thanks, Russ Farris

Russ-
How have things been going? Are you itching to get the B-247 a stablemate? Is this the one marketed by Hobby Lobby? For a speed 400? I've been eying that one and am curious too. Ed [This message has been edited by Eddie P (edited 07-04-2001).] |

See a few photos on my web site
www.scriv.com, I have now flown the beast twice (and must really work on the web site!). I glassed the wings and went for two Mega Mini 7 motors in series with 14 cells. Other major mod was a steerable tailwheel. 9x5 speed props, about 11.000 rpm flat out on a full charge. She flies great off a grass strip (thanks to the power margin)but I don't like to slow her down too much with a fairly high wing loading and pointy wing tips. Next flight is with 16 2000 Nimh, quite a weight gain (40g each against 61g for the 2400 Nicads). I would go for 14 but have two eight cell packs ready. The engine nacels are the trickiest bit. Go ahead, its a great looking and flying plane. Next time I might avoid the glassed wings from a weight point of view (and because it is lots of work), good results though in terms of finish. Let me know if you would like any more details/photos. Rod [This message has been edited by SCRIV (edited 07-09-2001).] [This message has been edited by SCRIV (edited 07-09-2001).] |
