yea the idea of no more spring in the tail section is kind of nice and allows for lighter tails if that is even possible...

The weather is looking nice this weekend. I think I'll head out to Carnation Farm around 9:30 or 10 Saturday and fly until I've had enough.

Someone came up with a way to get rid of tail surface springs a long time ago: they're called pushrods. The servo-mounted spring just balances the load on the servo.

I'm thinking the same thing about Carnation tomorrow.

Edit: Or was, until I realized how short my morning would have to be. I'll get more stick time flying closer to home Saturday. Have fun!

beating Viadoom traffic

Take one very early downtown drop-off, add a downtown lunchtime meeting, multiply by closing the 99 viaduct, and you get me ‘avoiding traffic’ by flying for three hours this morning.

With the Duwamish and bay filled with fog, the olympics blinding white stretched across the west, the morning sky lighting up behind and over all of it. The field is frozen, and when you launch you hear and feel and see all at once that the air is drier than it has been for a long time. It cleaves.

We’re so lucky to get to fly here. Bring on the ‘19 season!
