2019 Southwest Classic F5J-February 23/24-Stanfield, AZ

Announcing The 2019 Southwest Classic F5J contest at the turf farm in Stanfield AZ NW of Eloy on February 23rd & 24th.

This is a F5J USA Tour event.

Address: 31260 W Barnes Rd, Stanfield, AZ 85172

GPS Coordinates: 32.923963, -111.898380

Cost for the 2-day event is $60 payable using F3XVault, and includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday. You can also pay cash the morning of the event. If you decide to pay the morning of the event, PLEASE register anyway on F3XVault. Registration will close on February 20th.

Hotel information is available via the links listed below.

The pilot's meeting will take place at 08:30 AM Saturday morning. We will fly as many rounds as possible Saturday and Sunday morning and there will be a 4-round 15-minute window fly-off immediately afterward.

Contest Details

Current AMA membership required to participate.

We will be adhering to standard F5J rules with the following deviations as described in the F5J USA Tour rules:

1) 1A. Emergency motor restarts
2) 1B. Launches: 3-second delay before turning

You may use an Altis V4 or similar controller capable of logging F5J height and terminating motor run time a maximum of 30-seconds after throttle on. You will be permitted to run
Altis F5J firmware F5J_FAI_FW5.5 or 5.6, firmware FW5.2 for the Nano (does NOT allow motor restart, no user settings) or
Altis firmware RCEV_FW8.1 (recommended, allows motor restart, no user settings) or
Altis firmware Standard_FW2.2, firmware FW1.1 for the nano in F5J mode (not recommended, does allow motor restart, many user settings, difficult to setup).

You must use the standard firmware settings that adhere to F5J rules and mark the F5J launch height as "---" if a motor restart is detected. Any motor restart will receive a zero flight score for that round.

All F5J launch heights must be verified on the Altis screen by the timer at the conclusion of each flight. F5J launch heights displaying "---" will receive a zero flight score, so ensure your Altis controllers are setup and tested before the event.

For information on Altis setup, see the manual:

Great news, Jonathan! This means all (senior) team members will be there.
Dennis H also said he is trying to make it happen.
Would be great to have more junior team pilots there also.

Me and Myra have signed up but our first priority is running the infrastructure so we will likely get to fly some but not all rounds.
