Measure Control Deflections

Now this is pretty neat and something fun and useful for us tech nerds out there. GliderThrow is a small electronic device that you attach to your control surfaces to measure and set the surface deflections. It can measure in degrees or millimeters with a resolution of 0.1 degree variance. You can even measure differential settings with it because there are two sensors.

The sensors attach to your control surfaces with magnets and you'll then use a dedicated mobile device app to view the screens and measurements in real time. It should make programming simple, fun and accurate.

I'm curious on the cost as well. I can see this being an extremely valuable tool for those with serious contest models. Particularly the models that use all four wing surfaces in full span camber change mode to trim the airfoil for optimum performance at each of three or four specific speed settings for min sink, best L/D, Speed and More Speed. The use for these goes way past "just setting the angles".

$64,000 question, how does one get one?
$2 question, how much to get one to 49107?

Thanks,

There's an email address in the text that goes with the video linked from the web page. Something like [email protected]
Might be worth having if it's inexpensive.

Yep, 120 Euro plus shipping.
Currently on Backorder until early in new year + shipping times

Looks like a great tool to have in the kit for all types of models, not just gliders... I'll definitely be getting a set.

I use a similar product from Sandor at Digitech
http://www.digitech.nl/at-wizard

Which was just replaced by this one (has built in battery):

Available direct or here in the USA from Danny at Aeropanda.com

How does that hold on to the control surface? I also wonder how well that could be used on a DLG. The GliderThrow are said to weigh under an oz (25g) which should be light enough to not overdrive those small servos.

Very cool. Is there a thread you can link that shows their use? From aeropanda's site it seems like you just hold them to a surface. I'd like to see how they mount.

I have their GliderCG presently on order. I think that you will actually order from:

https://mahmoudi-modellsport.eu/glidercg (scroll down for throw device)

I believe all the body components are 3D printed so I suspect that these are pretty much made to order. I know I had to wait for my GliderCG to
be printed. There is another brand of CG from I think Spain and they 3D print their gear as well.

The German reviews on the GliderThrow and the GliderCG are all very good.

Don't know of a video.
They are 3d printed and very light (since the battery is external on the original units)
I use thin 3m double sided tape to hold it in place.
You download the app and it just works straight away with your phone or tablet over Bluetooth.

I've used them on F3A planes and also turbine jets. Very nice little unit. Much lighter than my Wixey or Robart or Hangar 9 gauges that I used before.
